The truth though, regardless of what Luxon or Mitchell said, is that
    the reduction is very recent.

Mitchell made a claim: "Dairy and retail business owners have been
facing a 533 per cent increase in ram raids between the year to August
2018 and the year to August 2023". The graph above it shows data from
January 2021 to July 2023, so the graph does not refute what Mitchell
    has claimed.

No it is not dishonesty. This would need for Luxon to know the up to date figures and the select the figures to suit his arguement. I find this hard
to believe. It is electioneering time and the party leader can not be
totally up to date on everything. So he gave what he thought was correct.

Now the PM has apologised for several errors and you your self, Rich, have a habit of recalling events from the past as if they are current, not in the past.

Calling someone dishonest requires proof beyond reasonable doubt.

Given this being the real world, it is to expected that anti social
    activities will go in cycles.

At the end of the day there are still about 30 ram raids per month, one per day.

You can argue until one goes blue in the face. However it does appear that National us not seen the updated figures.

This call out is good for Labour as it is a distraction. National should be asking the question What will the numbers be if Labour is relected, and why? How will you achieve those numbers Labour?

Thanks, yes I see it now.

The graph in the article does not go back to 2018 - the year to 2018
must have seen at least one ram raid, but it is before it became
widely publicised and ''visible'' to would-be offenders - that is
explained later in the article. So Mitchell was playing with
statistics - starting his percentage calculation well before police
say they began to increase in prevalence. Their has been a fairly
steady reduction in cases for the last year on that graph, and
apparently they have continued to fall. Mitchell and Luxon were at
best misleading, but in disputing that there has been a 0 percent
reduction from the peak in August 2022 is a lie.

You raised something that has not been proven to be a lie. I challenged you
    and
    you lost.
    Simple.
A real example of a lie is yesterday chippy said that Nationl were going to
    cut
school lunches to bread and milk. A lie.

    Cited verbatim:
"Will it be a piece of white bread and a glass of milk, or will they commit to continuing to feed kids healthy and nutritious lunches?"

This is a plain and simple example of figurative speech. Arguably a lie if taken literally by those dogged by their self-defeating binary tendencies, whereas the sufficiently educated and self-aware will have no trouble recognising it for what it
plainly is: a (deliberately emotive) figure of speech and therefore permissible in the context of the occasion on which it was uttered.

And surprise surprise you are unable to give evidence of such a
    statement . . .
Yes I am, but clearly you don't watch the news or read any news reports. https://www.labour.org.nz/news-release_school_lunches_line_election
And from a Labour party publication indeed. Chippy has not stepped back from that slur.

Given this being the real world, it is to expected that anti social activities will go in cycles.

It's also possible National has seen the true figures. You know the ones they don't show us. Oh and before Rich gets his tits in a tangle just go look at the true numbers for the real increase in the number of new police. funny how the real increase
there is about a third if what Ginny Anderson kept parroting!
