This is a cradle to the grave view of EV vs ICE vehicles.

Many of the points have been expressed on this ng and elsewhere,
nevertheless it is worthwhile reading all of them at once.

Things are never as simple as they first seem, trouble is msny people do not take that second look.

I remember the scare of "Peak Oil" - since then North Sea Oil plus
shale oil in the USA seem to have enabled oil prices to go up at a
much slower rate than predicted - there may be other means of getting
oil from other sources, but generally it now appears to be expected
that fuel costs will rise at higher than other costs - but there is considerable uncertainty

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_oil there are plenty of other
sites that do discuss the issue. It does appear that the consensus is
that we are likely to see oil become scarcer within the next say 30 to
    50 years.

Strange that this was not covered by the link above - but I did not
    read it particularly carefully.

There is a variance of CO2 emissions for EVs that the article does not
cover. EVs require electricity and how that is generated varies
hugely from one country to another. The article is written in the UK,
and this is how electricity is generated there:

    https://tinyurl.com/ypv7cdw4

In summary, nuclear and gas - no hydro. NZ generates about 85% from
hydro. Note that the article considers nuclear generation as clean
because CO2 emissions are low, but there is the issue of radioactive
waste. NZ does not generate using nuclear-powered generators.

So the conclusions in this article are specific to the UK, but of
significant wider interest because of the points it makes.

The entire ICE/EV debate is extremely complicated and far too much so for those people who are determined to go the EV way whatever evidence they are presented with. Such sentiments have been expressed here of course.
My concern is, and has been for years, that we are rushing headlong into EVs before we know the whole story and are doing so because of an unproven idea that there is a climate emergency - something that is not believed by enough scientists to be convincing. No actual scientific proof has ever been provided.
