Why on earth would National want to stop legislation that makes banks
and insurers pay if they treat customers unfairly?

Doing away with the legislation will not make it any easier to cut the
top tax rate - this is just about making big companies (many owned
    overseas) treat New Zealanders fairly.

Can anyone suggest a reason, other than political donations, why
National would want to do this?
Because the lending institutions are already kept in check by current legislation as listed in your link Rich! Obviously this legislation isn't needed and has nothing to do with donations to National! Once again you've let your political stupidity make a
    fool of you Rich!
Didn't you notice it isn't supposed to come into force till 2025?

Did you not notice "Scraping this legislation would be a win for banks
and insurers, and a loss for New Zealanders."

Consumer is not a political organisation - they are not looking to
favour any political party, but it is clear they see problems with
    National's proposals.

Yes I did Rich. Didn't you notice that banks and insurers are already being penalised for their behaviour?

So why are they pushing what looks very much like another stupid and unnecessary piece of legislation by Labour?

Your waffle here Rich just shows what a stupid lie your claim to be political neutral is!

Perhaps because the perceive that a) the people think it is the way to go as the banks are gettong too powerful. and b) National wants a fair country.
