This is the second article this week along similar lines.

It gives me no pleaseure to say that was the thoughts from some who thought about the matter when it was proposed. Things will get very tough in the
rental area if National does not make the interest amounts tax dedutable.

    Another poorly thought out idea.

What we need is a more balanced investment mix - currently it is too
hard for companies to list, as so much discretionary investment is
tied up in property investments. Most countries have a greater
proportion of housing provided by local authorities for short term
support, or by entities that specialise in long term rental
facilities. We need to enable some of those entities prepared to rent
for lifetimes, accepting stability and a reasonable long term return
over maximising return over a 10 to 20 year period - the boom and bust
scenario that we have seen too often. To just restore a tax deduction
for landlords would not solve the long term issues, and would have to
be paid for by putting up costs elsewhere - it is easy to put forward
such an idea, but harder to think through the long term implications,
or even in this case fairly short term implications.

Tings will get very tough in a lot of areas if whoever wins the
election just restores tax deductibility for landlords.

We'll get more balance when we get rid of Labour in October. Anything else will only lead to more misery for us all. Not just landlords!

You'll be getting a strongly worded e-mail from Robbie the robber if you keep opposing his greed taxes Rich. The rest of us know you're just lying to try and improve your abysmal presence :)
