In a post earlier today I brought attention to an article by Peter
Dunne in Newsroom that highlighted popularity as a justification for
their policy to remove GST from fruit and veges. From this it seems
that Labour's campaign for re-election revolves around finding all
those wildly-popular policies, regardless of effectiveness.
Most significantly, they seem to be ignoring the single biggest
advantage that a governing party seeking re-election has - their
record of achievement in Government and the need to ensure even
greater success by voting for them instead of the other lot. It is as
if the Ardern-led governments are not worthy of mention. Has this
ever happened before I wonder? I was not in NZ for the 1990 election.
Interesting times indeed.
