• Here's what Labour's stupid GST ploy will save you:

From JohnO@21:1/5 to All on Tue Aug 15 13:50:43 2023
    1Kg imported grapes $36 now, $31.30 after, saved $4.70.
Iceberg lettuce $5.50 now, $4.78 after, saving $0.72

So there you have it. Labour costing $2billion in lost GST revenue to wealthy people can save a bomb on their shopping bill but the poor save sweet fuck all*

It takes a special kind of stupid to come up with Labour tax policy.

    * In reality there will be no savings to customers. Prices are set by the market. The 15% drop in GST will simply be a windfall to supermarkets and other compliance resources such as accountants and IT vendors.

** Will that iceberg lettuce still be GST free if it is shrink wrapped? What about if it has been shredded and bagged? No problem, Labour will setup a new government department with committees to make such determinations. Along with an appeal process
and some lawyers to run that. But it will get a nice Te Reo name so I'm sure it will all be GREAT!

Labour are a party of morons who are so desperate for a vote they will go against their own 2018 Tax Working Group's advice. No wonder Robbo is looking fat - he's just swallowed the world's largest dead rat.

Remember that a $1 to the poor is a great deal larger amount than a wealthly person.

However your point is taken, the wealthy spend up large(r) and create more
tax. So the Government loses more tax from the wealthly which means that
they (Thhe Government) has less money to distribute to the needy.

Bash the poor people who actually do the work. Still that has been happening from this Government for the last 6 years.

    It is the Woke affect.

This certainly is the case. Supermarkets has prices which flucuate so it is pretty darn hard to nail down whether the GST has been removed or not. A
packet of biscuits moves within the range of $2.29 to $2.99 depending on whether or not it is a loss leader.

Labour have self promoting bullshit on X (Twitter) that gives prices and what will be saved. however I find it highly unlikely the prices in April next year will be that low. As usual Labour is either being hopeful or just lying in a desperate bid to
keep the imbeciles voting for them...
