The article is the usual stupid Covid tripe, with the usual stupid
admonition at the end to get your covid vaccination. But the photo of
"a healthcare worker member draws up a syringe" of "COMIRNATY" is
blatant fakery. There is no "Comirnaty" in existence. Comirnaty is
the Pfizer FDA-approved "vaccine" for which (as part of the approval)
Pfizer is liable for injuries caused by the product. Therefore Pfizer
does not make any, they make only the EUA (emergency use authority)
product which gives them blanket immunity from any injury claims. The
photo is fake -- mind you, many media photos are fake -- but this one
    *screams* "FAKE".

Our caring sharing government uses the term "Comirnaty" routinely in
its description of the Pfizer jab. Are they stupid, or just think we
    are stupid? Probably both.

Under the photo it says "A healthcare worker member draws up a syringe
with the BioNTech, Pfizer vaccine adapted to the Omicron-BA.1
    variant."

That appears to be exactly what the photo is - it is not a fake at
    all.

Since there is no vaccine adapted to the EG.5 variant as far as we are
aware, it is not surprising that they resorted to finding a photo from
the past - the purpose of the photo is to remind people that they may
need to get another vaccination. I am surprised that this should
confuse you Willy Nilly; perhaps you were rushing to find something to criticise - in this case you missed . . .

Yeah right! Right from the get go the vaccine did not do as advertised and
also added some serious side affects, such as death.

Willy is pointing out that the photo is not accurate. A picture is worth a
1000 words. The photo is not needed for the story/article/news so why have
    it?

    From the article:

"What we have seen overseas since this new variant emerged is it appears
to have caused a slight rise of cases in the US and Europe. That would
be one impact we might see in New Zealand.

"We're not seeing that impact at this stage, because we're actually at
the lowest point we've been to since Omicron arrived in New Zealand."

Well, Michael Baker, this has already happened.

Average daily case numbers for Week ending:

    16 July 619
    23 July 537
    30 July 515
    6 August 664

The whole article is a Pizer infomerical, if such a thing exists.

With the hind sight we have the cost benefit ratio is not positive. Excess deaths are increasing still all over the world and still only a handfull of people are talking about this. Something is going on.

Then we have this from 6 months ago

    Also

    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/483900/covid-19-outbreak-probe-exposes-failings-in-contact-tracing-within-pacific-community

This can be seen as a Government fail, or I told you so.

The August outbreak was big one. Caused in part by the Government not
listening and having a one size fits all approach.

Wow, Rich, you are so dumb. By your standard, a photo showing someone
riding the Loch Ness monster would "appear to be exactly what the
photo is". The article obviously shows an old staged photo from AFP.

I am opposed to injecting poison into people, Rich, even into you. So

So yes the number of cases was reducing, but went up in that one week.
We will find out the week ending 13 August in the next few days. So
while not confirmed, his prediction may well be correct. Certainly we
were at the lowest point since Omicron arrived.

The whole article is a Pizer infomerical, if such a thing exists.

I don't see it that way. I agree that getting New Zealanders
inoculated was a major cause of our very good Covid results, but it
    was not the only precaution - the care taken with border activities;
the enabling of workers to stay at home and not infect others was also significant.

With the hind sight we have the cost benefit ratio is not positive. Excess >deaths are increasing still all over the world and still only a handfull of >people are talking about this. Something is going on.

Indeed the loosening of restrictions was always expected to give rise
to more cases - and the statistic you refer to may well be instructive
    - see https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/excess-deaths-cumulative-per-100k-economist?tab=chart&facet=none&country=USA~AUS~NZL~GBR

Looking at the central estimates for the cumulative excess deaths per
100,000 people during Covid we see:
    USA 397
    UK 354
    Australia 122
    New Zealand 10

From https://covid19.who.int/table , NZ deaths total 3229, so if we
had the same experience as the USA we would have had 3229*397/10
deaths, or 128,191 deaths. I suspect if we had experienced nearly
125,000 more deaths there would have been a lot more concerns . . .

Our vaccination rate from that last link is 254.08 total doses
administered per 100 population. That is lower than Australia
(267.64), but higher than the UK (222.8) or the USA (202.08).
Certainly higher vaccination rates generally gave lower deaths, but
the comparison with Australia shows that while important, vaccination
is not the total reason why we have done so well.

The total cost is very difficult to assess - what do you base your
statement that "the cost benefit ratio is not positive" on?

Then we have this from 6 months ago

That last article refers to contact tracing in 2020 and 2021 in
relation to a very small section of our community - yes we could have
done better, but it is some comfort that we still had vaccination
rates higher than many countries. Contact tracing was certainly a
valuable tool; I am pleased that you see the efforts to isolate those
with Covid from infecting others, and others from being infected were
valuable; after vaccination rates the work to reduce infection from
those with the disease was indeed important.

Making newer vaccines available is also important, as it is a proven
method of reducing the number of cases, and I am pleased you agree on
the importance of encouraging those most at risk to maintain
    vaccinated status.
