Guess it's sinking in to Labour that there's a strong possibility the polls aren't telling the real story...

I did not see a mention of polls. There is however a correlation
between the feral Right and: Misinformation, disinformation; threats
to political opponents, incitement to ignore laws, deliberate
misrepresentation of science, - and now in your post the attackers
    blaming the victims . . .

Rich, you are still getting this wrong, it is more like

    There is however a correlation
between the feral Left and: Misinformation, disinformation; threats
to political opponents, incitement to ignore laws, deliberate
misrepresentation of science, and not caring about society as a whole.

It is a bit of a stretch to correlate the threat of violence to MPs
and the polls. The threats are real but the numbers of those making
them is most likely miniscule, and my bet is that almost all of them
are made on social media by keyboard warriors.

Threats of violence to MPs must never be allowed to interfere with
freedom of movement regardless of which political party they belong to
or whether said party is part of the Government. Anything else is a
step on the road to anarchy and will directly lead to fewer candidates considering entering Parliament.

However you are correct in assessing the popularity or otherwise of
government decisions and the effect it has on threat levels. This is particularly relevant to reforms introduced that were never mentioned
prior to the previous general election.

We can take comfort in the fact that a single-party government in NZ
will most likely never happen again because the circumstances of the
2020 election are most unlikely ever happen again. We are protected
by the policy trade-offs inherent in forming all MMP governments
    except the current one.
