There is no far right in National or ACT. To compare them with the Republican >Party is beyond lunacy.

All this talk of "far right" and "far left" is as idiotic as the
so-called political compass; the purpose of which seems only to
confuse people.
The only index that makes any kind of sense is a very long line that
puts liberty at one end and tyranny at the other.

For liberty you have the Green Party and ACT (both great believers in
Freedom of Speech for example, and at the Authoritarian end NZ First
and National. Labour is less authoritarian but more libertarian than >National.
On the economic front however National and ACT are far-right; Labour
is not as extreme right, and The Green Party is left of centre.
for comparison, see the similar chart for the USA Presidential
candidates in 2020 - Trump is to the right of the National Party,
Biden to the right of Labour and about the same as National - with
both Biden and Trump not being at all libertarian.
I suspect tyranny can exist at either the far right or far left
extreme authoritarianism - it is ironic that the US regards itself as >embracing Liberty when they have such authoritarian structures . . .
