While I agree that National has been slow to recognise that 3-waters
is bad enough in some local areas to warrant attention, they at least
have a pre-election policy and water assets remain under the control
of those local bodies that own them. There is lack of detail all
round (with the current water reforms, there is also none) - however
some local bodies have proven problems and this is addressed by
standards regulation of both water quality standards and asset
maintenance requirements.
Thanks Rich for reminding me just how much better the National policy
is and how much more transparent National is about their plan than
Labour was.
