"1936 Saw 2 major ex-tropical cyclones pound the shores around the Hauraki Gulf. The first storm was on hit the Hauraki Gulf on the morning 2nd
February 1936, causing extensive damage. A 2nd storm arrived 26th March
1936 which conincided with a King Tide and the highest recorded sea level
    of the 20th century."

A bit of balance for the climate change religion folks.

A waste of time if you expect it to affect Rich's claimed scientific degree. You know the one he refuses to give anything that may suggest he's not lying...

The current (Gabrielle) and recent (Hale) cyclones are arriving more frequently and with greater severity. The debate is whether this is
because of world-wide temperature increases and whether said increases
are the result of human activity (energy consumption over the last few centuries).

Except the hotting up isn't over the whole planet. Recently cold spots have started popping up. One of which apparently caused a cold snap in Australia. Something the global warming crowd (lets be honest about them) have been unable to explain :)

If the latter is true, those of us living in every southern hemisphere country are doomed because the source of almost all human-made
emissions is in the northern hemisphere.

The latest suggest we can expect a decrease in tropical cyclones. Guess ya pays ya money and takes ya pick :)
