Which is all rather interesting that the coal consumption has risen in 2022 owing to the energy crisis.
Also interesting is the world consumption of 8 billion tonnes of coal in 2022. That is slightly over 1 tonne per person for the whole world.
In 2016 NZ consumed 2,469,000 tonnes. So that is about 0.5t/person.
Pretty good considering Ardern killed the search for gas and Huntly can use both gas and coal. Gas is a far better choice than coal, especially when it's crap coal from Indonesia and we have top quality coal here in NZ just lying in the ground...
