• Democracy or tyranny?

From the United Nations Human Rights Declaration 1948 signed up to by New Zealand.
Article 1 All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Article 2 Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Article 30 Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein.

Comp;are the above with the following -

The Health Authority is an institution designed to serve the interests of one ethnic group.
Three Waters gives 50% of the administrative control of drinking water, waste water and storm water to iwi.
The seats for Maori on councils is undemocratic. No other ethnic group is guaranteed representation in local government.

And I suspect much more of this is in the minds of the would-be tyrants who hold such undemocrtatic policies dear.

    That is incorrect.
    Sorry Crash, just a typo.
The Health Authority is responsible for planning
and commissioning hospital, primary and community health services, the
Maori Health Authority is responsible for ensuring the health system
    works well for Maori.

Unlike co-governance provisions, the MHA has no veto over decisions
made by Health NZ. Health NZ is a de-facto 'NZ European Health
Authority'. The controversy should be about why other racial
minorities (such as Pacifica and Asian) don't also have a Health
    Authority.

I would suggest the MHA be broadened to include Pacifica and Asian and
well as Maori - a Cultural Health Authority.

    I share your suspicions.

It should be noted that in 1985 with the introduction of reforms that
became known as 'Rogernomics' Sir Bob Jones declared 'mission
accomplished' and wound up the New Zealand Party, whose (FPP)
vote-splitting in the 1984 election brought about a Labour Government.
The Maori Party has been similarly eclipsed by Labour's Maori caucus
    now.

I would suggest that the MHA be abolished, along with all other
    ethnic-specific legislation and implementation.
