There is a growing concern over the Excess death rates and the deaths of
young healthy boys/men who could have flicked Covid off and an experience.

The hatchard article does not mention Covid until well into the
article. The 8-year-old could have died from any cause - there is no
depth in why the author considers this significant although I
acknowledge an early death like this is always going to be traumatic
    to the family members.

The article is too busy fearmongering to bother with any effort to
research the 8-year-olds cause of death and related circumstances.
There is a claim of 'record high rates of excess death from high
profile medical experts and some MPs' but no cite for this.

No I am not going to bother to read other hatchard articles based on
the assertions made in this article. If anyone can shed light that
shows this to be an uninformed response feel free to enlighten me.

There has been a worrying trent for head injuries to football players (Gridiron, Rugby, League) which has seen recent headlines in New
Zealand, but if anything those trends are downwards given publicity to
head injuries, in New Zealand at least.

He mentions the rate of Covid infections in the UK, but not that
experience elsewhere is significantly different. All the rest appears
to be assertions based on flimsy assertions that have no evidence of correlation.

There is a small group of people who for various reasons wish to
reduce trust in government - a sentiment remembered still through the expression of 'making government small enough to be drowned in a
    bathtub."

In the last week there have been exraordinary natural disasters with
excessive rainfall causing flooding in many parts of the world - and
one case was featured yesterday - that of a mother who lost her 5 year
old son when she was not able to get him from her vehicle when it was
overtaken by water - the sons last words telling her not to worry and
to stay calm. Such tragic deaths are real, but why this one got
world-wide coverage and those of the deaths from cancer in young
children do not is a commentary on the need for media to deliver new
    stories.

The Hatchard column appears to be one that is essentially political -
being no more but in many ways less honest than the politicians he
rails against. The scandal is that the parties that currently benefit
from such attacks are not having the courage to speak the truth - New
Zealand has been very fortunate in our Covid experience - the rest of
the world, and the UK in particular, were less fortunate than us; and
we have a far greater common purpose within our parliament than our
opposition is prepared to admit to - the furtherst they will go is to
complain that the government was a few days too late (or early) and
did not spend more money to fix problems before they became evident.

We should hold amateur politicians to the same standard we should be
holding those parties that represent us in parliament - after all,
both government and opposition parties are being funded by the
    taxpayer.
