Life to the power of 5G
    -----------------------
We're excited to share that we're rolling out our 5G network
in New Zealand* from December. 5G will be a huge step for
connectivity and we're delighted to take you on this journey
with us. It's the first of many locally focussed innovations
that our new Kiwi ownership are supporting us to deliver.

    5G launches December 2019
    <https://www.vodafone.co.nz/5G/>

    A jump in possibilities
5G is the next generation in mobile communication. More than
just faster speeds, it's a whole new kind of network. One
which will be smarter and more responsive. A network that
will ultimately enable new experiences that change how we
    live, work, and play.

    Where it begins
Some of the first to experience the new network will be the
services and companies that Kiwis depend on. We're proud to
announce we'll be working alongside NZ Police, BNZ,
Auckland's Rescue Helicopter Trust and Waste Management to
    embrace the possibilities of 5G.

Look out for more updates from us, as we work towards
launching the network to bring you life to the power of 5G.

    * 5G launches December 2019 in parts of Auckland, Wellington,
    Christchurch and Queenstown.

    Yawn!!!!

I'd prefer Vodafone to concentrate on providing a decent service to
parts of rural New Zealand. Some of us still have no mobile at all and
an average daily download speed of less than 1Mbps, which means the
internet is practically unusable in the evenings when bit rates are even
    lower.

But Vodafone, the government and and the rest of them, just couldn't
really care about rural New Zealand. Rural Broadband Initiative? A big
    joke!!!!

Vodafone plans to charge premium for 5G some time after its launch https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/114665911

Vodafone customers won't pay an extra charge for its 5G network when it launches in December, but the company does intend to impose a price
premium down the track, Vodafone NZ chief executive Jason Paris says.

Vodafone customers won't pay an extra charge for its 5G network when it launches in December, but the company does intend to impose a price
premium down the track, Vodafone NZ chief executive Jason Paris says.

According to the article in today's NZ Herald Business section, there's
no "intend to impose a price premium" ... but it is a possibility,
depending on what's happening with 5G options from Spark and 2Degrees
    at that time.

Basically Vodafone NZ have set a price for now and plan to be "first to market", but when the other companies catch up, Vodafone NZ may decide
to raise prices to match the others. i.e. rather than providing
cheapers price and any actual competitive pricing, they'll just all
greedily con customers for as much as they can get away with, as usual.
The same as when these greedy companies didn't drop copper broadband
pricing when rolling out fibre. :-\
