I got a CPU kernel microcode patch for Windows 10 yesterday, wondered why.

Yo misfit - good to see you are still around, at least in this ng. I

Heh! No, not yet. It's just that my usenet reader was on a laptop that I wasn't using so much as
it's getting too slow for running modern browsers etc. I'm using T'bird for now (now that I'm using
Win 10) but am going to try (Free) Agent as I don't really like how T'Bird does usenet.

Good to 'see' you Gordon. :)

Can't imagine how T'Bird could do USENET better. Must check out Free

Two things: I don't like having my usenet and email being done by the same client, it's too easy to
inadvertently email a poster instead of replying in-group.
Also I'm used to Outlook Express with the QuoteFix add-on which I used for... maybe a couple
decades. Maybe more actually. It's not only easier to use but familiarity and all that.

I'm not sure that Free Agent will be 'better' than T'bird. I do know that I won't be using it for
email though and while I'm learning a new usenet client it might as well be one I don't also use
for email. That said it's a few days on from when I originally researched which version to use and
then downloaded an older version of Agent to try and I still haven't installed it and set it up...

Me neither, so I only use T-Bird for USENET which is not an issue in the slightest !

Yep I used to use OE for USENET (only), and went to T-Bird when OE
    vapourisied.

So no great reason for me to stop using T-Bird for USENET and real
    Outlook for email then ....

Same - except I've been using OE / QuoteFix on an XP install on a T60 Thinkpad right up to this
year - in fact the laptop's still running now. (There are some things it does that I still don't
have a Windows 10 solution to.)

No not at all. If you're happy with it and used to it then that's great.
