I need to mark a huge amount of non-consective messages and if my
Shift key bounces or other navigation/selections are pressed, I will
lose all previously selected posts. I need a more static and
long-lasting marker as choosing these posts will take hours.

If you don't already use keep, watch or ignore flag, you could select consecutive blocks or single messages and hit the appropriate shortcut
key (k to keep, w to watch, i to ignore). After this, create the next
(new) selection and proceed until all relevant messages are flagged. Now
select a view, that only shows kept, watched or ignored messages and do, whatever you want to do with them. Afterwards select all (still filtered) messages and hit the key you used as a marker again, to clear them all.

Please note, that (depending on your settings in General_Settings -> Misc) watch and ignore may also select all follow-ups. If you don't want such behavior during this special selection, turn the setting off, temporarily.

Bookmarks and markers (from Navigation menu) wouldn't work, because you
cannot filter after them. (They are meant for jump-navigation.)
