The last approved message was in January 1995. See History for details.

This group may be a candidate for revival with a new moderator. . . .

I'm sure I've said this on Usenet a few hundred times. I'll repeat it
    again:

The model of the moderator personally owning the group never worked.
Every moderated group needs a team of moderators and a moderator
    succession plan.

Therefore, this group should not be revived UNLESS a team volunteers and there's a succession plan. One guy taking over is merely a single point
    of failure.

As far as whether it continues to be listed on checkgroups, who cares.
No one has cared that there have been no approved articles for the last
26 years. The idea that purging the list of recogized newsgroups as a
way to save Usenet is specious.

I'm not the hierarchy administrator, so you all recognize whatever you
like. Just be aware that it's utterly meaningless.

I'm not sure why you posted this (i.e. the entire post), but these
sorts of assertions here -- often made by others -- have little to
do with reality. Most moderators have resigned. Meaning, they
came to me and asked -- insisted, usually -- to be taken off the
list & disassociated with the group. Mostly they were apologetic.

or whatever bullshit you are spewing.

Yes, you are, Bruce. You proved it by following up a second time to the
    same article.

A fucking probably 20 year old post

Calm down, Bruce. It was from 2006.

shows up on whatever crap news service you are using

eternal-september, Bruce. Can't you read headers? Ray is currently
operating one of the more important News servers at the moment. You have
no respect for your fellow News administrators.

Aren't you cute, Bruce. You support 15 users or so?

and bang, there you are with commentary on dropping moderation
or whatever bullshit you are spewing.

It was a rmgroup RFD with a moderator vacancy for over a decade. The author suggested the group could be revived with a new mdoerator. I pointed out
that the model of a single moderator as a single point of failure doesn't
work. I've said this many times over the years, and probably said something
    at the time.

If you had read for comprehension, you wouldn't have misstated it.

Also, I actually owned up to failing to read the Date header and not
    spotting the re-injection from news.freedyn.de.

Your sole purpose of following up repeatedly in the thread was to flame
me. You've made a most important contribution to Usenet.

Tell us again about that standards-writing committee you sit on.

You were so obsessed with me that you hijacked a proposed alt group from
the proponent and sent a newgroup message just to spite me. This is the
last thing a responsible News administrator would do.

Just had to get your "Lord and Master of Usenet" in play.

You were always suspected of having been the Hipclone two decades ago in
those massive attacks through open proxies, mostly in the Bell Canada
network. My email address wasn't used on all those articles; perhaps 40%
    of them.

Who on Usenet knew me personally and has despised me for so long? I'm no
one important, just another Usenet user who used to comment on proposed newsgroups.

Are you at long last owning up to having been the Hipclone?

What do you have hooked up? A pocket pager, email service?

Something gets posted in key newsgroups and they send you an alert?

    It's like a bat signal?

It's exactly like I read Usenet.
