I do think it's better to include other cryptocurrencies, but I don't
like creating a new second level hierarchy for such a narrow subject. Possibly comp.protocols.cryptocurrencies or comp.misc.cryptocurrencies?

I'd rather propose news:comp.crypto.misc and work from there
should it become crowded with any specific subject. (Such as
    news:comp.crypto.currencies.) Like:

comp.crypto.misc General discussions of cryptographic software and hardware.

    (Or: "of applied cryptology.")

The difference to news:sci.crypt (and .*) would be that they're
focused on algorithms, while comp.crypto.* are to be centered
    around implementations.

(It would also be different to news:comp.security.misc in that
the latter is concerned with computer security at large, of
which cryptography came to be an important -- yet not the only
    -- element.)

The current issue is specifically about creating a newsgroup for
discussing cryptocurrencies. I believe cryptocurrencies and cryptology
are sufficiently unrelated -- other than the use of computers and the terminology including "crypto", which means "hidden" -- that a heirarchy
for one should not include the other.

There are already four newsgroups for cryptology under comp.security.*,
and I cannot find any other Big8 newsgroups for cryptology. I would
expect any new cryptology newsgroup would also be under comp.security.* However, I would oppose placing a cryptocurrency newsgroup within comp.security.*, especially now that it appears cryptocurrency
    repositories are not secure.
