why
Because IPv4 is an annoying protocol. There are not enough addresses
and I am much more flexible with IPv6.

I don't think it takes that long.
About 40 % of the Google traffic is IPv6, this changed in the last 10 >years.
I assume in 10-15 years almost everybody will have IPv6, so IPv4 will
be decommissioned.
Wrog assumption!

In a century!
I don't think it takes that long.
About 40 % of the Google traffic is IPv6, this changed in the last 10
years.
I assume in 10-15 years almost everybody will have IPv6, so IPv4 will
be decommissioned.
Wrog assumption!
Please explain why do you think this is wrong?

Any attempt to remove IPv$ would wipe off most of the internet!

why
Because IPv4 is an annoying protocol. There are not enough addresses
and I am much more flexible with IPv6.

I would deactivate IPv4 immediately if all providers and hosters finally
used IPv6. However, there are still providers who offer IPv4-only
servers and sometimes only assign IPv4 to the mobile networks.

40% to 100% is still a long way off.
Especially the VPS providers are massively behind.

Worse. There are ISP thatt don't plan to introduce IPv6 and there are >administrators who don't implement IPv6 because they don want it or are
too stupid to understand it, including "dinosaur roars" like "IPv4 is
ok, we don't need IPv6".

So why not IPv6 for registered IPV4 holders?

Why not give regisetered people a complementary /48 ?

What purpose would that accomplish?
They can request IPv6 ranges from their LIR/RIR with few simple clicks for free.
The issue is that getting IPv6 range assigned is absolutely trivial
compared for effort they need to expend to setup it so it actually does >anything.
And it is not ONLY one-time hardware upgrade cost (if current one doesn't >support IPv6, or has much reduced performance for IPv6 due to software >implementation vs. hardware-accelerated IPv4), or setup & testing costs - >there is also huge education cost for your workforce, as well as maintenance >effort for indefinite time (supporting dual stack is double the effort than >supporting single stack, regardless if it is IPv4-only or IPv6-only).
That being said, IPv6 is great and everybody should support it.

And it is not ONLY one-time hardware upgrade cost (if current one
doesn't support IPv6, or has much reduced performance for IPv6 due
to software implementation vs. hardware-accelerated IPv4), or setup
& testing costs - there is also huge education cost for your
workforce, as well as maintenance effort for indefinite time
(supporting dual stack is double the effort than supporting single
stack, regardless if it is IPv4-only or IPv6-only).

Hardware? Most OSes supposed IPv6 since 2005 !
