That would depend on what you are actually attempting to accomplish.
If you want to prevent spammers from using this technique, don't hold
your breath. This has been going on for decades, based on the not
unreasonable assumption that most people will automatically white-list
their own address. This undoubtedly increases the likelihood that
spam addressed in this manner is far more likely to end up in the
target inbox.
Here, if one stops blindly trusting what appears in the From header,
ie. removing your address from any white-lists you may employ, the
issue may be at least partially mitigated.
If you are depending entirely on the filtering options available to
you in Thunderbird, your road will be long and uphill.
