This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I told you so on 14th January 2021 that these newsgroups will shut down
once and for all.  This is what I said:

Things will get worse when these newsgroups are closed down.  Mitch
Baker is on a mission to cut costs and she started with programmers
and when she runs out of ideas, she would instruct that these
newsgroups should be shut down so that they won't need any man power
    to look after them.

Check out my post in Mozilla.General of 14th January 2021.

Mitch Baker needs to be paid 4million USD a year so she needs to cut
some where and these newsgroups were a drag on the resources. Nobody
buys Mozilla Products and Google and other sponsors don't want Mozilla
    to survive.

The next thing we are likely to see is that Thunderbird will only
contain eMail part of the code.  Support for Newsgroups in Thunderbird
client will be removed.  Mark my words.

We are seeing the end of Mozilla as an entity like we saw Netscape.
Only Apple can save Mozilla for its Firefox department as Apple needs a
good browser to compete with google/Microsoft. the alternative is to
bring back Brendan Eich.  Stallman has been brought back to FOSS so why
not Eich?  These guys (Eich & Stallman) created something out of thin
air but Mitch Baker hasn't done anything that I can recall.

Chris himself has mentioned that several times over the past few years.

You're probably right about that. It's businesses and organisations for whom an email client with a built-in calendar is relevant, and they don't need usenet and chat.

We are seeing the end of Mozilla as an entity like we saw Netscape.
    Only Apple can save Mozilla...

We're seeing Mozilla (i.e. Firefox) concentrating on its core business. Will it survive? That depends rather on Google at the moment.

He canceled me; I returned the favor.

One more reason I stopped updating at V38.

Huh? Oh, I see. Apple is going to buy Mozilla and charge us to use it.
    Yeah, that'll work.

We're seeing Mozilla (i.e. Firefox) concentrating on its core
business. Will it survive? That depends rather on Google at the
    moment.

Isn't that of purely theoretical inerest? Do we really care if new
versions stop falling out of the pipe as long as the old ones continue
    to work?

Actually, I HAVE lost capability due to upgrades. Fortunately there's
    Chrome.

Hrm. Android is starting to look like Microsoft, but with its own
    hardware...
