From Daniel@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jun 12 19:59:44 2021
I'm busy making my way through the almost 8,000 posts to the
    netscape.public. mozilla.seamonkey newsgroup on this news.mozilla.org
    server!

Apparently this newsgroup was mirrored on UseNet in a 'Read-Only' fashion.

I've just gotten to the posts where Robert Kaiser is trying to convince
people (after Peter Potamus the Purple Hippo has been trying for a
while) to go to the mozilla.support.seamonkey group on the
    news.mozilla.org to ask their questions!!

Is what's happening now (the news.mozilla.org server closing down) sort
of like a case of reverse deja vu where the n.m.o server is closing down
and we're having to go to UseNet?? ;-p

The newsgroup netscape.public.mozilla.seamonkey is not read-only
on Usenet. You can post to netscape.public.mozilla.seamonkey on
Usenet, and posts would appear on this news.mozilla.org server.

The netscape.public.mozilla.* groups were set up by the old
Netscape Communications Corporation. That happened long before
    this news.mozilla.org server even existed.

This here newsgroup mozilla.general is different:

    1) Some servers carry this newsgroup mozilla.general in a 'Read-Only'
    fashion.
    2) Some servers let you post, but those posts would never get to this
news.mozilla.org server where most people would have read the group.
    3) And some servers do not carry this newsgroup mozilla.general at all.

Yes, Ralph, hence my "Apparently this newsgroup was mirrored on UseNet
