Can anyone tell me with any relative certainty when the "North Carolina" was taken off the interstate highway shields. I have been trying to find some documentation on exactly when this occurred, but have so far come up empty. Many states, including
South Carolina still print the name on theirs, and every once in a while I used to stumble across a North Carolina I shield, but these are becoming few and far between, if not by now outright gone.
