Three people died in a fiery crash involving several vehicles
and a big rig on the 5 Freeway in Commerce early Saturday,
shutting down all north and southbound lanes as officials
    investigate.

The freeway is expected to remain closed until the afternoon
between Washington Boulevard and the 710 Freeway, California
Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi said.

Polizzi said the crash, which occurred near Garfield Avenue, was
reported after midnight when a southbound vehicle that possibly
was racing hit the big rig, which lost control and went through
the center divider, crashing into six vehicles on the northbound
    side.

The big rig was fully engulfed in flames, Polizzi said. Two men
and one woman died at the scene; one of the victims was the big
rig driver. One person was arrested.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner said his office
was unlikely to identify the victims until late Saturday.

Hopefully he'll spend a lot of years in prison.
