    Post-o. That should be:

"Almost exactly a year later, in mid-April 2022,"

-- One friend e-filed her amended 2020 return in mid-April, 2021. Almost exactly a year later, in mid-April 2021, she received the refund she was due. Strangely, one week later she received a snail mail saying she would receive the refund in two to three
    weeks.

-- Another friend e-filed her amended 2020 return in late May, 2021. This past week she received a snail mail from the IRS saying she would receive payment in four to six weeks.

I recently got a letter dated May 6 saying they'd processed an amended 2020 return we filed in May 2021.

    According to honda....@gmail.com <honda.lioness@gmail.com>:
-- One friend e-filed her amended 2020 return in mid-April, 2021. Almost exactly a year later, in mid-April 2021, she received the refund
she was due. Strangely, one week later she received a snail mail saying she would receive the refund in two to three weeks.

-- Another friend e-filed her amended 2020 return in late May, 2021. This past week she received a snail mail from the IRS saying she would
receive payment in four to six weeks.

John, thank you for sharing your own experience.

Yesterday the second friend (who amended her 2020 return
in late May, 2021) received a mailed check for the amount
the IRS/Treasury owed her plus, I believe, interest.
