• Rejection of e-filed Federal 1040

From Wilson@21:1/5 to All on Fri Apr 29 11:49:55 2022
Using H&R Block to e-file two of my last client's returns and both were rejected. Both were filed 'Married Filing Jointly' and the reason given for
the rejection was 'Your spouse's 2020 adjusted gross income (AGI) doesn't
match IRS records.' Rejection Code: FR-32-IND-032-04

I double-checked, and the AGI entered was correct. Curious that the IRS
would ask for the 'spouse's' 2020 AGI when both filed MFJ.

    Any ideas? Thanks ~ Wilson

You didn't say what you entered for the spouse. If they
filed MFJ for 2020, you enter the same AGI for both the
taxpayer and the spouse. The AGI that you enter is the AGI
on their joint 2020 return. You enter that same amount for
    both of them.

Thanks Bob, but you missed my next to the last line - "I double-checked, and the AGI entered was correct. Curious that the IRS would ask for the
'spouse's' 2020 AGI when both filed MFJ."

MFJ, the AGI is their AGI.

Was wondering if it's H&R Block that made the mistake or the IRS, which is
    way behind in processing.
