• Odd entry on 1099-B

From ""Retired"@Home.com@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 17 00:14:31 2022
Got a 1099-B showing a CD I cashed out with zero gain/loss as interest
    was paid monthly.

What is odd is on the same line as the name of the bank that held the
CD, is the phrase "Adjusted 3/23/2021 for Reason 243". CD was bought
    2/19/2020.

Question is, what is "Reason 243" ? I have searched the IRS,, and the
brokers, websites, finding nothing. I also did a general search on
Google. Nothing related to a 1099-B, but some interesting hits leading
me to believe this is somebody's idea of a joke/punk, etc. "Reason 243
for wrecking your car is I hate you" kind of stuff.

I also called the broker's main office help line, and the nice young
lady did not have answer, did check with somebody else, came back and
said they needed to research this further and would call me with a result.

Needless to say I won't hold my breath.

Anyone know is this Reason 243 on a 1099-B is legit ?

    Thanks.

That's the broker's code, not an IRS code. The broker will
    have to explain it.
