• Qualified Charitable Distributions and California state income tax

    Is a QCD also non-taxable for California state income tax purposes?

    It sure looks that way from the 2022 forms. Line 13 of form 540 asks
    for Federal AGI, which does not include the QCD amount. Then on
    schedule CA we compute various additions to income and and carry the
    totals back to form 540 line 16, but that schedule doesn't have
    anything about a QCD, neither on the for nor in the instructions.

    Am I correct that a QCD is also excluded from California taxable
    income, or have I missed something?
