• Return Rejected

From Marc Auslander@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 2 21:02:20 2023
I tried to file my HR Block created return and is was rejected. The
reject code was FD-32-FW2-001-02. After 1/2 hour of searching for the
code the IRS told me this meant my W2 wages didn't match the sum of my
    W2 wages.

And in fact it doesn't. I have a W2 for an unqualified pension plan.
Last year, the proceeds were included in W2 on line 1a. This year, it
is not included but is reported on line 8. I checked and TurboTax does
    the same thing.

So - are both the tax programs wrong or is the IRS check wrong?

(rant - how can the IRS not have a public listing of the error codes?)

Answering part of my own question. I read the instructions for 1040 and
the treatment I am seeing is correct. It quite clearly states that you
do not include unqualified pension income in the W2 line even thought
its reported on a W2. Now what.

Final resolution. Turbo Tax informs me the IRS is in error and there is
no time to resolution! Wait or file by mail!

But - it turns out Block messed up my State Tax by including the
unqualified pension income TWICE - both in W2 and in new extra line!

    Sigh.
