The circus of the shit state.

California’s decline continues to reveal itself in the decision-making of
state officials and those who run its Democratic cities. That rings
especially true when it comes time to craft a budget.

California’s new budget covers the state’s $32 billion deficit without
touching the state’s reserves, which sounds nice in theory until you
realize that the state is simply kicking the can down the road. Along with
some spending delays, the budget also cuts $3 billion in climate funding
at a time when California Democrats lead the country in climate
    doomsaying.

BIDEN PICKS UP THE PACE IN PURSUIT OF 2024 CAMPAIGN CASH NEAR END OF
    QUARTER

Don’t worry, though, because California found room for the important
things. California is going to extend the tax credits for Hollywood, even making them refundable so that “if a movie studio has credits that are
worth more than what it owes in taxes, the state will pay the studio the difference in cash.” The state will also be implementing its plan to
regulate fast food wages, and the wages of any other industry, through the backdoor after the original law was suspended awaiting a 2024 referendum.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, Mayor London Breed is catching heat for
spending cuts on housing and child care, among other things. With the city
on the verge of bottoming out as residents and businesses flee (taking
their tax revenue with them), cuts were going to be necessary. Again,
though, you need not worry, because all the important things were covered:
San Francisco found $4 million to create a new office to oversee
reparations payments that would bankrupt the city.

In one of the few coherent thoughts he has expressed that is worth
quoting, President Joe Biden once said, “Show me your budget, and I'll
tell you what you value.” Californians can take a good look at these
budget proposals and identify exactly what their Democratic leaders value. State leaders prioritize tax breaks for Hollywood over climate funding.
San Francisco leaders are cutting funds for housing while throwing money
toward a reparations plan to pay millions to people more than 150 years
after slavery. That is what they value.

The budget decisions will only become more enlightening as California’s
decline continues in the coming years. Democrats have shown nothing to
indicate they will ease the financial strains of living in a state racked
with homelessness, poverty, and energy issues. The more residents and businesses that flee, the drier the tax revenue stream will run. Then you
will find out what California Democrats really value above all.
