the question is asked "where's the best place to keep a home defense
    firearm?"
I am reminded of one of my dad's war stories. They got issued replacements, and as it got dark, they asked, where do we put our
rifles? My dad and the rest of the unit looked at each other, "I
dunno, never thought about it" and said to the effect "right about
there" placing it next to them where they would be sleeping.
I quipped "Sort of like where I put my glasses at night ... right
where I can reach them when I wake up."

So the short answer is: no more than arm's length away. At all
    times.

    have fun.

A DEA Officer Stopped At A Ranch

A cocky DEA told a rancher,

“I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs.”

The rancher said, “Okay, but don’t go in that field over there…..”, as he pointed out the location.

The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, ”Mister, I have the authority
of the Federal Government with me!”

Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly
    displayed it to the rancher.

“See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish…
On a land! No questions asked or answer given! Have I made myself
    clear……do you understand ?!”

The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up, and
saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher’s
    big bull……

With every step, the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it
seemed likely that he’d, sure enough, get gored before he reached
safety. The officer was clearly terrified.

The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top
    of his lungs…..

“Your badge, show him your BADGE…….

As for rednecks may also be anarchists, and to answer the question of
anarch is alive because government is too big, there are inspectors of inspectors all fumbling to keep their jobs,

"Printing" a derringer might not be a bad thing, who knows. I'd
be inclined to put the lid from a Skoal can (or similar sized object)
between derringer and the outside just so that it doesn't print. But
    that would be my inclination.
