• CDMA iPbne 4s and 911

From Wade Garrett@21:1/5 to All on Fri Oct 28 10:14:32 2022
I keep my old non-activated 3G CDMA Verizon iPhone 4s in the car's glove
box as an emergency backup to call 911 if my active iPhone failed or
    went missing.

After Verizon's imminent retirement of the CDMA network, will the 4s
still be able to call 911?

not on cdma, but the 4s also has 2g/3g gsm, which might work. emergency
calls can go via any carrier.

Yeah, "might work" probably ain't the best option in an emergency
    situation :-)

I think I'll just leave the 4s at home and stick an old 4G VoLTE Android
in the glove box. A no-phone-service 4s is, after all-- an iPod Touch!

Yes, if there is T-Mobile coverage since T-Mobile's 2G network will not
be shut down until December 31, 2022 (unless the date is pushed out
again). Then you might want to spend $40 on a low-cost Android phone
    from HSN, i.e. <https://www.hsn.com/products/samsung-galaxy-a03s-65-hd-tracfone-bundle-with-1500-min/20751378>
    (use $20 off code).
