Does anyone know of any eSIM providers where they provide VOIP voice and
SMS via an app that works on iPad?
Someone on Reddit, visiting the U.S., was looking for an eSIM for an
iPad that includes calling and texting capability (not just a data-only eSIM).
TextNow would work for him, with a physical SIM, but they don't have
eSIM support.
That MVNO (Unreal Mobile) no longer offers this service, I bought
some of their SIM cards with three months of 5GB/month data for pretty
cheap. It was a bit of a pain to set up because they only have an iPhone
app, not an iPad app,
but, surprisingly, it was easy to install an
iPhone-only app,
that doesn't show up in the App store for iPad, onto
the iPad.
On many LTE Android tablets they use a phone chipset and you can have a native dialer and SMS capability, essentially an Android phone with a
very large screen.
using a tablet as a phone is silly. who wants to hold up an 11" (orunless one is using hearing aids or other device so NOT holding to ear.
larger) device to their head? even the 8" ipad mini is too big to be
used as a phone.
but why no just hot spot it to your phone?

very careful wording, which is not going to go unnoticed.
there is no need for a sim provider (either type) to offer voip and
sms. their role is solely to provide connectivity.
voip and messaging apps will work with any provider as well as with
public wifi. private wifi will also work but one will obviously need to obtain access to it. and just to be complete, one could use a wired
ethernet adapter.

sounds like another fabricated 'story' to stage yet another revision to
the 'document'.
post a link to the reddit thread so we can see exactly what the
question was and what suggestions were given. assuming there is such a thread.
TextNow would work for him, with a physical SIM, but they don't have
eSIM support.
then it won't work for him.
why even mention it if it doesn't fit his needs?

what pain??
iphone apps work on ipads in compatibility mode, either at 1x (actual
size) or 2x (full screen).
but, surprisingly, it was easy to install an
iPhone-only app,
not surprisingly, installing it is the same as an ipad app.
the only surprise is how soon your story starts to fall apart.
that doesn't show up in the App store for iPad, onto

that only happens if an iphone app requires hardware not available on a particular iapd, which means it *won't* *work* if someone was able to download it. android does this too, but you conveniently neglect to
mention that..
however, voip apps do not fall into that category, so your story fails
even further.

exactly why they don't sell well. they're nothing more than a 'big
phone'.
ipads take full advantage of the larger screen, with features that are unavailable on android tablets, such as stage manager, sidecar and
universal control and a wealth of ui elements that only make sense on a
large screen (e.g., splitview), along with a *huge* selection of
ipad-native apps to take full advantage of it.

But I suspect someone who knows what they're doing
in other words, definitely not you.

Why do you think the iPad VOIP can't be used with BT earbuds

Google Voice.

He has a phone with a foreign SIM and a foreign number. He wanted a U.S. number for use in the U.S.. It's still possible on an iPad, with a
TextNow physical SIM, but apparently there are no eSIMs with that
capability.
In the U.S., there was a "free" mobile service called FreedomPop which offered a small amount of free VOIP-based service with the hope that
users would end up signing up for a paid plan, though the paid plans
were definitely no bargain.
For the person on Reddit, this is essentially what they want, but with
an eSIM, not a physical SIM. I dont think there is such a thing.
He
cant use a plan that requires cellular phone capabilities because those arent included on cellular iPads.
He bought a data-only eSIM not
realizing that it was data only.

i see you snipped the bluetooth part of the post.

earbuds and what you supposedly tried to resolve it.

I study each and every one of you ill-educated iKooks, nospam.
You're like Jolly Roger & Alan Browne & Alan Baker who claim to know about vehicles and yet they don't know the difference between a bimmer and a beemer, which, when Alan claims to own a "BMW", is the first thing anyone ever learns because the diagnostic tools & interfaces are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT between them.
The fact they're clueless is important because it means they're liars.
Worse, it means they don't know the _simplest_ of the most basic facts.
And yet, like you, they _think_ they do.
Anyone using the word bimmer for a beemer is an utter moron, nospam.
Just like with you when you complain you hate common Usenet etiquette.
<https://www.lsu.edu/internet/usenet/usenet-etiquette.html>
I already informed you nospam, _everyone_ who knows anything about Usenet snips to only what they're responding to. It's only you trolls who don't.
<https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1855.txt>
As for the question you haven't answered, need I repeat it for you, nospam?
Q: *Why not get a free phone for POTS calling/reception out of an iPad?*
describe what problems you claim to have with your unnamed bluetooth
earbuds and what you supposedly tried to resolve it.
I clearly said I never even tried it nospam, where you're _desperate_ to
find something to try to say I'm stupid, and I completely understand that.
Your entire life everyone has told you that you're stupid, nospam.
And I get that. I really do. It's _why_ you have a chip on your shoulder.
But the fact you're always purposefully unhelpful has nothing to do with
your lack of intelligence, nor your lack of education, nor even your lack
of knowledge about even the simplest things about iOS that you fabricate.
Your character is that of a low-class liar who has no good intentions.
That's not even an ad hominem, nospam.
It's who you are.
You'd stab your own mother in the back if she slighted your Apple God.

Why do you think the iPad VOIP can't be used with BT earbuds
But don't call me a liar.
*This is EXACTLY what I said, nospam*
"Just as an additional purposefully helpful datapoint, while I do
NOT have an eSIM on my older iPads, they have the free-for-life
200MB T-Mobile SIM cards which allow me to make and receive POTS
calls over Google Voice for free.
It's a speakerphone, of course, at least the way that I use it myself.
But I suspect someone who knows what they're doing (i.e., I never
tried it), could use it with a bluetooth earbud and it would be
like a normal phone.
Hence, the answer to _that_ question would be 'why not' have
an extra phone, for free?"
Do you see the part about me not having any experience with bluetooth?
Why do you think the iPad VOIP can't be used with BT earbuds
i see you're changing the story.
But don't call me a liar.
don't lie and i won't.
Do you see the part about me not having any experience with bluetooth?
do you see the part you deliberately snipped, where experience with
bluetooth would be required to make the claim you did?
here it is again:
Why do you think the iPad VOIP can't be used with BT earbuds
you lied. and this ain't the first time either.
All you want to do is turn every thread into your own pissing contest.
