• "in the 1960s, liberals emptied our psych wards."

Mike Pence said 'liberals' emptied mental health hospitals in 1960s.
    ...
    ...

For this fact-check, we focused on Pence's assertion that "in the
1960s, liberals emptied our psych wards."

Multiple experts told PolitiFact that blaming liberals, or Democrats,
for shutting down mental health institutions is a vast
oversimplification of a far more complicated history.

Experts said that one of the leading figures in this effort was a
conservative icon, Ronald Reagan, both as California's governor and as president. Other key players in the policy shift included the U.S.
Supreme Court and governors and legislators from both parties who saw
an opportunity to save money by shuttering inpatient institutions.

Pence's statement is "inaccurate and unfortunate," said Daniel
Yohanna, a University of Chicago Medical Center associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience. Yohanna called Pence's
statement "overly simplistic" and said it "puts blame on the people
that have little to do with mass shootings."

Pence's staff did not respond to inquiries for this fact-check.

Compared to modern Rebublicans, Saint Ronnie was a liberal. He took away
(or limited) open carry in California, for example.

McCarthyism was "hitting" on the hollywood sector, which would have influenced/affected Nancy's/his perspective.

    Blacklists
    Main article: Hollywood blacklist

On November 25, 1947, the day after the House of Representatives
approved citations of contempt for the Hollywood Ten, Eric Johnston,
president of the Motion Picture Association of America, issued a press
release on behalf of the heads of the major studios that came to be
referred to as the Waldorf Statement. This statement announced the
firing of the Hollywood Ten and stated: "We will not knowingly employ
a Communist or a member of any party or group which advocates the
overthrow of the government of the United States..." This marked the
beginning of the Hollywood blacklist. In spite of the fact that
hundreds were denied employment, the studios, producers, and other
employers did not publicly admit that a blacklist existed.

Compare this to today's Republican rhetoric...

    Mulford Act
    ...
    ...
Both Republicans and Democrats in California supported increased gun
control, as did the National Rifle Association of America.[9][10]
Governor Ronald Reagan, who was coincidentally present on the capitol
lawn when the protesters arrived, later commented that he saw "no
reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded
weapons" and that guns were a "ridiculous way to solve problems that
have to be solved among people of good will." In a later press
conference, Reagan added that the Mulford Act "would work no hardship
    on the honest citizen."

The consistent fight to reduce or remove tax-funded public services,
from mental health to healthcare to homeless care to the rest of it,
continues right to today. Look at the conditions being placed in
exchange for a solution to the debt crisis. Those exact things.

Corporate tax reductions (and those with wealth), has been reduced
over/over since later 1940s. I might add it cost more for a canidate
to run for office, and those running, do listen to those who give $$$

Debt - I believe most all, if not all industrial countries have this
issue. I know this game of having more debt can increase exports and
decrease imports when a country's currency is devaluated. I'm not an
expert here, but I have no idea what it means for a country to be in
    debt.
