That computer looks like a TRS-80 Portable. I remember seeing catalogs
back in the day for them and always wanted one. <g>

    Agreed

The TRS-80 Model 100 is a portable computer introduced in 1983. It is
one of the first notebook-style computers, featuring a keyboard and
liquid crystal display, in a battery-powered package roughly the size
and shape of a notepad or large book.

Ahh, lovely computer. I get a big laugh out of the rotary dial phone
though, more than the acoustic coupler. As for not telling you my
password, it's pretty easy to watch him peck the keys. Anyway, good
    times.

That machine had a lovely keyboard, something most laptops these days do
    not.

I grew up using an operator to make the call. In late fifties, local
Bell installed the equipment for rotary dial phones.

The Touch-Tone telephone was introduced to the nation on Nov. 18,
1963, but your local exchange had to get the new equipment. Where I
lived, this did not happen until early 1970s, and you were charged
    extra for this service.

Ah, I'm filled with nostalgia for that old CRT and the clunky keyboard
and the cassette deck. It was all so magical at the time. The
"business level" machine at 2000 pounds UK, that was a heck of a lot of
    money back in 1985!

Used WordStar then...no mouse...Ctrl keys to move cursor...etc

WordStar 3.0, the first version for MS-DOS, appeared in April 1982
