I'm sure any speaker would like to have it their way, but he does make
    a valid point about Matt

"Former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), a liberal Democrat with
whom I disagree on almost everything, perfectly captured Gaetz's
childish behavior in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday.
Gaetz "has no sway" or influence in Congress, Pelosi said, "except to
get on TV and to raise money on the internet." Pelosi told Tapper he
was "wasting [his] time on that guy."

Yeah, Gaetz is a FloridaMan douchenozzle for sure. His hatred for
McCarthy seemed to be personal and total, he'd vote against oxygen if
McCarthy put it up to vote, just for spite.

Will be interesting to see what happens next. They've got 45 days to
sort it out before this government lurches on over to its next shutdown,
and Gaetz was a leading voice behind the shutdown so I expect next time
he won't budge until his every last demand is met. That being
impossible, I'm anticipating a shutdown, and possibly a long one.

By the way, this seems to have some background on the two men's feud.
    Might come down to self-interest.

    https://nypost.com/2023/10/03/why-matt-gaetz-led-charge-to-remove-kevin-mccarthy-as-speaker/

McCarthy has repeatedly claimed Gaetz has borne him a grudge for
refusing his demand that McCarthy intervene in an ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation.

“He’s blaming me for an ethics complaint against him that happened in
the last Congress. I have nothing to do with it,” McCarthy told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” just hours before he was voted out.

Gaetz, who is rumored to be eyeing a run for Florida governor in 2026,
is being eyed by the ethics panel over allegations of sexual misconduct, illicit drug use and campaign finance violations as well as taking
    bribes.

Many Congress members — including fellow Republicans — reportedly are
eager to expel the Sunshine State politician if he is found guilty of wrongdoing.

Not uncommon when a jerk (person) is pruning for a different office to step-on/crush others on their attempt to be elected.

    Do consider,

Donald Trump is the Mob Boss in Mar-a-Lago, directing his dutiful
soldiers to shut down the government and launch a sham "impeachment"
    inquiry into his political opponent.

House Republicans are not working for the American people - they're

It's far past time to completely abolish the Congress, both houses. It's
been disfunctional for decades. What do we replace it with? I don't
know, maybe a parliament, maybe something else. Regardless of what the
new thing is, what we have no does not and can not work.

AOC explains just how badly Kevin McCarthy screwed himself

1: Congress was supposed to be on recess this week. He called them
    back for unclear reasons.

2: If a motion to vacate the chair is launched, the Speaker has 48
hours to shore up his support before the vote. He waived it!

3: McCarthy recently got a clean CR through with more Democratic votes
than GOP votes but then immediately went on TV to bash Democrats for
"trying to shut down the government." He then seemed to expect
    Democrats to bail him out.

4: McCarthy also did not offer anything for Democrats to bail him
    out.

Her stupid party surely won't let her say the words, but the fact that
he allowed the Biden impeachment process to go forward pretty much
    guaranteed they wouldn't save him.

Hard to survive when you're neck deep in a pit of vipers. I'd be
surprised if a single person in Congress is focused on the well being of
the American people anymore, and it's probably been a long time since
    anyone was.

"My party" is the only consideration.

As a sign of how unpopular Gaetz' move to unseat McCarthy was, hours
before yesterday's vote, the GOP conference blocked microphones on the Republican side of the chamber, forcing Gaetz to debate from the
Democratic side. But Gaetz was never known as a people-pleaser. The
son of a prominent and wealthy former Florida Senate leader, Gaetz
made headlines as a young Florida House member when he defended the
state's "stand your ground" law in 2013. He was first elected to the
U.S. House in 2016 and, among other things, survived a federal sex
    trafficking probe.
