• felony in boxing

From RichD@21:1/5 to All on Tue Dec 21 21:24:27 2021
I watched a video of a boxing match, one of those
"recommended just for you...", a player suffered an
atrocious beating. It turned out, his opponent had
removed the padding from his gloves, replaced it with
mesh, soaked in plaster of paris.

Then they reported the boxer and manager did jail
time. What statute was violated? Federal or state?

It was probably battery and conspiracy. Normally battery wouldn't
apply to a boxing match because the boxers agree to a certain level of
being hit. But in this case the boxer was being hit in a way that was
much more damaging than he had agreed to or even knew about. So the
battery (state crime) statute would apply.
