From Bernie Cosell@21:1/5 to All on Fri Oct 8 21:32:42 2021
A question about legal procedure -- is it really the case that there's no
way to actually get a subpoena'ed person to show up? I didn't know you
could just ignore theml [and indeed, I thought that if *I* ignored one the local sheriff would come and arrest me]. Is that not the case? Why aren't
the Bannon, et al, being "arrested" [or whatever] and apparently view
complying with a subpoena as optional. What am I missing?

Congress basically has no police power.

If Joe ignores a subpoena then the committee asks the whole House to
cite him for contempt of Congress. If that is approved then the case is
turned over to the Justice department for prosecution.

Well, they could sent the Sergeant At Arms around to throw them in
jail. But that isn't done very often.

This seems to be a good reference for the powers of the House to enforce
    a subpoena
