• For a non-USAian - "indictment", charging, and the secret service

Following the Trump saga with vague interest. Just wondered what exactly
makes being "indicted" different to "being charged" ?

Also, with 24/7 secret service surveillance ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^ protection,
would there be a need or prospect of not being bailed when he does
    finally face the court ?

I am aware these are federal charges so Very Serious.

Grand juries indict. Prosecutors charge. Not all cases go to grand
juries - in some states and some situations, a prosecutor can present
evidence in a preliminary hearing before a judge and bypass the grand jury.
