OT Do you think you can save a spot in a parking lot by standing in
it, until your friend brings the car?

If yes, how long can you save it?

I think you can tell, but just to be sure:
    I am not a lawyer.

Sure, my wife does this from time to time.

As to how long you can stand there, if it's private property, I suppose you
can stand there until someone complains to the owner and the owner elects to call law enforcement to have you arrested/removed as a trespasser. If it's public property, you can probably stand there until someone complains
directly to law enforcement to have you arrested/removed as a trespasser.
As a practical matter, you can probably stand there in plenty of time for
your friend to arrive and park in your spot since I doubt if most law enforcement people would consider this a priority issue. On the other hand, anyone upset over what you did could very well decide to vandalize the car
in retaliation, which is one reason I don't really like when my wife does
    this.
