| Angelo Paparelli, a partner at Seyfarth Shaw's immigration practice
| in Los Angeles, said this year's data release isn't likely "a
| weather vane to the future."

| Paparelli noted that the agency employees who gather the data are
| career officers, and the leadership at the top of USCIS has been
| delayed as Biden's nominee, Ur Jaddou, awaits a Senate hearing and
| confirmation.

| "Messaging has not really fully begun on how things should change. I
| think it's more likely an inadvertent coincidence," he said. "I
| don't think we're going to see less transparency, we're going to see
| more transparency."
