YUKON, Okla. —
A Yukon, Oklahoma high school teacher has been arrested for
second-degree rape and child porn after being accused of
engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a high school
student, officials said.

According to the Canadian County Sheriff's Office, Hunter Day, a
teacher with Yukon Public Schools, was arrested after they
received a complaint that she was having an illegal relationship
with an underaged boy.

Authorities said the boy's parents brought their son's cellphone
to the Sheriff's Office, and asked for a forensic review of the
phone. The parents told investigators that they had already been
through the phone and found text messages and nude photos, and
were concerned that Day had already had sex with their son.

They were also extremely concerned because they believed Day was
their son’s chemistry teacher.

During the course of the phone examination, investigators said
they determined that Day and boy had already had sexual
intercourse, and that additional plans had been made to meet at
her home Wednesday afternoon to have sex again.

“This is a classic case of a serious breach of public trust.
School teachers are entrusted to protect and educate our
children, not to engage in an unlawful sexual relationship with
them,” said Chris West, Canadian County Sheriff.

With the information that a prearranged meeting was already in
place, Investigators said they used the boy’s cell phone to
contact Day, acting as if they were him, and asked if the
meeting was still on, and Day replied “Yes,” and indicated that
he should hurry up and get there before her husband got home
from work.

Investigators said when they arrived at Day’s home, they sent a
text message to Day from the boy’s cell phone, and said “I’m
here.” Day responded, “the doors unlocked as usual.”
Investigators opened the door and found Day sitting on the
living floor with the lights turned off, candles lit, and
wearing a T-shirt and workout shorts, according to the Sheriff’s
Office.

Investigators identified themselves, and told Day why they were
there. Day fully cooperated, and admitted to having an illegal
sexual relationship with the boy. She also admitted to sending
"bra and panty" pics, and that she had received photos of the
boy’s genitalia, according to the Sheriff’s office.

“I’m no longer surprised by the people who commit these crimes,
because predators come from all walks of life,” said West.

Day was arrested and booked in to the Canadian County jail,
where she was booked on the charges of rape in the second
degree, possession of child pornography, and soliciting sex from
a minor using technology. her bond was set $85,000.

Officials with the Yukon Public Schools District released the
following statement,

“Yukon Public Schools was informed late Wednesday afternoon,
November 15th, that an employee of the district was arrested for
engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a high school
student. This behavior was representative of a very poor
decision by a person entrusted with teaching our students.

The safety and well-being of our students is our number one
priority. Yukon utilizes application references, interviewing
protocols and state background checks prior to hiring any
employee in the district in an effort to protect our students.
None of these security checks revealed anything that would have
alerted the district to the possibility of this event.

Yukon Public Schools is fully cooperating with local law
enforcement officials during this ongoing investigation. The
district is not at liberty to discuss any further details of
this incident or divulge names of any of the parties involved.
All questions pertaining to this incident should be directed to
the Canadian County Sheriff's Department.”
