• Has Dr. Denise Faustman Found a Cure for Insulitis Insulinitis?

    Follow-up:

She's still working on it. 3 Indianapolis
athletic trainers are on a mission to run
250 miles and raise $250,000 for Dr.
    Faustman (article on July 15 2021): https://www.wishtv.com/news/local-news/indy-athletes-to-run-250-miles-to-raise-250000-for-type-1-diabetes-research/

Fundraiser for Faustman Lab https://www.gofundme.com/f/fundraiser-for-faustman-lab https://strikeouttype1diabetes.org/

At the 2nd fundraising website above, an
unusual photo of a young child with one
month's worth of insulin injections in their
    arms, abdomen, & legs: https://strikeouttype1diabetes.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/kt1d-child-injections-1.jpg

Quote underneath that photo (with clarify-
ing inserts in parentheses): ... Children
& adults alike living with Islit (Insulinitis,
near-total to total loss of endogenous in-
sulin) ... must measure their blood sugar
multiple times a day (actually, I rarely did ...

... that the first 44 years I had Islit) and
inject their bodies with insulin (or pump
insulin or use inhaled Afrezza insulin &
injections or pumped insulin for basil
dosages) to (try to counter) blood sugar
from (going) too high (& to bring it down ...

... when it goes too high). Presently, the
very drug that will keep (an Islit individual)
alive (exogenous insulin) is also the very
drug that will kill them if (the glucose level
goes severely low, that risk greatest when
sleeping, but present 24 hours per day ...

... due to the high-risk nature of exogenous
    insulin dosages).

Interesting, the article says 1.125 million
Americans have Islit - I've seen estimates
as high as 1.6 million have Islit. This article
says 40,000 Americans get Islit each year.

Has Dr. Denise Faustman Found a

Evidence is unclear / disputable and when
this might find its way to FDA approval,
unknown. How close this treatment might
come to 'normal' glucose levels (i.e.,
    HbA1c < 5.7), unknown.

For example, the article mentions "230
who contributed blood samples for mechan-
istic studies" -and- 52 with "type 1
    diabetes".

It mentions HbA1c dropping 10 percent at
3 years and 18 percent at 4 years. It men-
    tions HbA1c of 6.65 (that's nowhere near
    'normal' - HbA1c < 5.7).

Lack of clarity haunts the article. The mix
of "type 1 diabetes" (52) with unknown glu-
cose status (230), are their HbA1c figures
including all 282 in the trial? Why mix
those with type 1 diabetes with those who
have an unknown glucose status? Confusing.

The individuals with type 1 diabetes, was
    their treatment with bacillus Calmette-
Guerin (BCG) vaccine their only treatment?
Did they totally stop exogenous insulin?

Per the following, NO, they did not stop
taking exogenous insulin: "Patients in the
trial, whose blood sugar levels have re-
mained near normal for five to eight years,
take about one-third less insulin than they
    did before …" https://www.statnews.com/2018/06/21/type-1-diabetes-vaccine-denise-faustman/

    One-third less insulin, that's NOT a cure,
so in answer to the question, NO, she hasn't
    found a cure.

    INSULINITIS (ISLIT)

New SUPERIOR clarifying name for near-
total to total loss of endogenous insulin https://prohuman.net/pix2/new_superior_clarifying_name_is_INSULINITIS.jpg

The overwhelming majority of Islit caused by
autoimmune attacks on pancreatic beta cells
    (Insulitis Islit) but there are

o 15 specific types of rapid onset Islit, a
rare condition (only present in < one-half
of 1% of Americans & in a much lower rate
in most of the world), when present is typ-
ically diagnosed at age under 30
    (50% at age < 18, 20% at age 19 to 29)

o 1 slow onset specific type, Latent Autoim-
mune Islit, frequency unknown but per a
    recent report, misdiagnosed as Cellosis
(new clarifying name for type 2 diabetes)
almost 40% of the time due to its slow
onset and its occurrence typically at age
    over 30

Old outdated anachronistic name for Islit is
type 1 diabetes, confusing in that diabetes
without clarifier is often used to describe
this condition which is 1 of the 7 Disparate
    High Glucose Conditions (DHGCs).

That makes figuring out which DHGC is actu-
ally being referred to (and it can be any one,
or some, or all of them when the diabetes
or diabetic word is used without clarifier)
    confusing / difficult: https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticguessinggame.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticconfusion.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticendingthemisunderstanding.jpg

    - - -

It's estimated that 5% to 11% of Islit individuals
will die from severe hypoglycemia, the highest
risk of that being while sleeping (i.e., dead-in-
    bed syndrome).
