• Weird Assertion by American Heart Association

From _@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jul 3 11:45:56 2021
I've run across some weird claims in my
65 years on planet earth, but I'd have to
say this is among the weirdest: https://www.studyfinds.org/older-women-heart-failure-sitting-sedentary/

"A recent study reveals that women over 50
can cut their risk for heart failure in half by
keeping sedentary activities to under 4.5
    hours daily."

I mean, think about it. A woman would have
to time her sitting every time she sits down,
keep running track of it, & when she's near
the 4.5 hour mark, YIKES, stand for the rest
of the day / night, making sure she doesn't
    go to sleep before midnight.

Now how ridiculous can the American Heart
Association be, not much more than this one
    would think.

Please, with all one has to worry about, adding
the crime of "sitting > 4.5 hours" to it is absurd!

    SITTING TOO MUCH,
    EATING TOO MUCH,
    SLEEPING TOO MUCH,
    SLEEPING TOO LITTLE,
    EXERCISING-TOO-LITTLE,
    TOO-MUCH-ARTIFICIAL-SWEETENERS,
    TOO-MUCH-SUGAR,
    TOO-MUCH-FAT,
    TOO-MANY-CARBS,
    TOO-MANY-CALORIES,
    TOO-MUCH-SALT,
    TOO-MANY-DRUGS,
    TOO-MANY-EGGS,
    TOO-MUCH-MEAT,
    NOT-ENOUGH-FRUIT,
    NOT-ENOUGH-VEGGIES,
    NOT-ENOUGH-FIBER,
    TOO-MUCH-LONELINESS,
    NOT-ENOUGH-SOCIALIZATION,
    TOO-MUCH-TV,
    TOO-MUCH-COMPUTER-TIME,
    TOO-MUCH-CELLPHONE-TIME

add all of that to the

    GUILT-TRIPPING WORRY WORRY WORRY list
that the DEATH IS AROUND THE CORNER IF
YOU DON'T DO THIS OR THAT gang promotes.

Sheesh, get real. I wonder if any of them have
studied how much adding WORRIES like this
    one about sitting-too-much adversely impacts
    life expectancies.

I wonder how many long lifers among the 2.7
million Americans who've lived at least 90 years
would be willing to analyse how much of all of the
    above they worry about.

I suspect their overall worry level is miniscule &
is a key ingredient in their having long lives.

That reminded me of other risks:

    TOO-LITTLE-FOOD,

Specifically, in terms of insulin, when the
glucose goes too low, enough food (or
drink) in terms of carbs must be ingested
to recover, or preferably, to counter a low
    glucose event prior to hypoglycemia.

Also, something few give much thought
to, impoverished individuals can die from
that, starvation, or individuals living in a
part of the world where droughts or other
    tragedies have made food unavailable.

Something also rarely thought of by most,

    LACK-OF-WATER,

a problem that individuals living in a part
of the world where droughts or other tra-
gedies have made drinkable water un-
    available.

    Follow-up 4:

Well, apparently, there's yet another adverse
health causality risk to worry about, the first
one in this posting thread was about too much
sitting, this one is about too much standing:

STANDING TOO MUCH AT WORK CAN
DOUBLE YOUR RISK FOR HEART DISEASE https://bestlifeonline.com/standing-heart-disease-news/

That one based on study from the American
    Journal of Epidemiology:

Research on Anxiety in People with any of
-15- specific types of rapid onset Islit -or- the
sole specific type of Latent Autoimmune Islit
-or- any of -21- specific types of Cellosis -or-
the specific type of transitory Gestational Cel-
losis -or- any of -11- specific types of Diminosis ...

Ohiglucons -or- any of -6- specific types of
    the mostly non-glucose anomaly Insipidus
-or- any of -21- specific types of Hut (see
Diabetes Bubble / Diabetes Bubble Burst
for complete details on all of those terms) https://beyondtype2.org/anxiety-research-diabetes-ada/

Wonder how worrying about sitting for over
4.5 hours & all the other worries mentioned
in the previous posts in this thread impact
the anxieties mentioned in that article, the
estimates of anxieties in the article probably
far too low relative to the actual amount of ...

... HIGH anxiety caused by each condition
    referenced above.

    Follow-up:

Upon discovering the oenophile word https://groups.google.com/g/misc.health.diabetes/c/26aPpqYStpk/m/PZ64w6yJAQAJ

that reminded me of a substance that
technically falls within the warning against

    TOO-MANY-DRUGS,

    but the specific warning is

    TOO-MUCH-ALCOHOL,

    related to

    TOO-MUCH-OF-ANY-DRUG.

That one, everyone with Islit (Insulinitis, near-
total to total loss of engogenous insulin) is
very familiar with, the risk entailed with

    TOO-MUCH-INSULIN,

i.e., more insulin than needed based on food
ingested & exercise & internal unknowable
metabolic hormonal activity & inherent proba-
bilistic nature of exogenous insulin dosages,
entailing much more in the way of guessing
than many are willing to acknowledge.

That reminded me of other risks:

    TOO-LITTLE-FOOD,

Specifically, in terms of insulin, when the
glucose goes too low, enough food (or
drink) in terms of carbs must be ingested
to recover, or preferably, to counter a low
    glucose event prior to hypoglycemia.

Also, something few give much thought
to, impoverished individuals can die from
that, starvation, or individuals living in a
part of the world where droughts or other
    tragedies have made food unavailable.

Something also rarely thought of by most,

    LACK-OF-WATER,

a problem that individuals living in a part
of the world where droughts or other tra-
gedies have made drinkable water un-
    available.
