• Omnipod 5

From _@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jun 22 09:10:48 2022
Good news, Insulet sets up wide-scale
rollout of Omnipod 5 insulin pump (art-
    icle dated June 5 2022): https://www.fiercebiotech.com/medtech/ada-insulet-sets-widescale-rollout-omnipod-5-insulin-pump

I've been working on getting that ever
since then, contacting the Omnipod 5
folks, getting an email that they are
waiting on a prior authorization from
my doctor, contacting my doctor who
tells me he didn't receive a request for ...

... a prior authorization. So, today I con-
tacted the Omnipod 5 folks who said
they sent the request. They re-sent the
request today, so I'll be contacting my
doctor this afternoon to see if I can get
confirmation they've faxed the prior au-
thorization to the Omnipod 5 folks.

I'm in a weird gray zone right now, having
discovered that my medical supplies have
already put me into the donut hole, so my
costs will be a lot higher until I go over an
amount of over $7,000, then they'll go back
    down again.

Meanwhile, I only have 8 of my current Om-
nipod Dash pods left (24 days supply), so
I'm trying to get the new Omnipod 5 device
& pods before my current pods run out.

Good news, auto-adjustment of basal dos-
ages based on Dexcom G6 glucose levels
will happen with the new Omnipod 5. I won't
know 'til I try it what the impact of that will
    be. Hopefully, a positive impact.

Bad news, going into the donut hole due to
my insulin & Omnipod prices going so high
(doubling or tripling) since last year, & I'm
not sure if Dexcom G6 prices have also in-
creased dramatically. Oh well, having Insul-
initis (Islit, near-total to total loss of ...

... endogenous insulin), the modern techno-
logical approach is a very expensive one (in
    the U.S.).

I feel like I'm in an episode of the Seinfeld
comedy show, one where trying to do a
simple thing takes climbing a mountain
    to accomplish.

The Omnipod 5 folks say they've sent the
prior authorization info not once, but twice,
my doctor's office hasn't received it, and so
today I'm having my doctor's office talk to
the Omnipod 5 folks directly, hoping that
will resolve whatever is causing the prior ...

... authorization to be on a slow boat to
China to get completed. -If- that happens,
then the Omnipod 5 folks have to get the
info to my insurance folks, & the insurance
folks have to do whatever magic it takes
to get the Omnipod 5 device & new pods ...

... (I'm really not sure but I think the device
needs new pods that only work with the
new Omnipod 5 device) to me before my
current 8 pods run out in 22 days. If anyone
knows where I can find a magic want to get
all this to happen, please let me know as ...

... it appears that may be what it takes to
get the 3 entities involved to get me the
    Omnipod 5 device.

Sidenote: America, land of the free, home
of the brave, land where medical advances
are extremely expensive & difficult to get
to people who would benefit from them,
magic wands would be extremely valuable. (-:

prior authorization info not once, but twice,
my doctor's office hasn't received it, and so
today I'm having my doctor's office talk to
the Omnipod 5 folks directly, hoping that
will resolve whatever is causing the prior ...

... authorization to be on a slow boat to
China to get completed.

If anyone
knows where I can find a magic wand to get
all this to happen, please let me know as ...

... it appears that may be what it takes to
get the 3 entities involved to get me the
    Omnipod 5 device.

Sidenote: America, land of the free, home
of the brave, land where medical advances
are extremely expensive & difficult to get
to people who would benefit from them,
magic wands would be extremely valuable. (-:

Prior Authorization done on June 13th
& sent from Omnipod 5 folks to my insur-
ance folks on June 21st. My insurance
group says they haven't gotten it so I
checked with my Omnipod 5 folks and
gave them a new Humana phone# to ...

... contact and the Humana folks have
to approve the Prior Authorization in
    order for someone (Humana? Omnipod?)
to send me the new Omnipod 5 & pods.

Seems all this is happening on the Dark
Side of the Moon, and I've got 21 days
of pods left, & I'm in a slow paddleboat
to China & have no idea when or if I'll
get the new Omnipod 5 & pods, but hey,
I'll call the Omnipod 5 folks next week ...

... (pick a day, let's try Tuesday) to see
what's going on (waving magic wand

    get the supposed state-of-the-art ...

... tubeless insulin pump & pods that can
autodose basal insulin based on Dexcom
G6 glucose levels). Onward through the
fog, it's always darkest before the dawn,
sooner or later one way or another I'll be
able to report back on how well the Omni-
    pod 5 works, maybe.

Didn't call yesterday 'cause I was working
on a flat tire. I had to call a tire service to
put on my spare 'cause I didn't know that
the jack I bought had to be placed beneath
the rear axle to be able to jack the car high
enough to change the left rear tire.

No youtube video I could find said anything
about that. Anyway, today I called the Omni-
pod 5 folks & they said yesterday my insur-
ance company OKed the prior authorization
& contacted an entity I've had no contact
with before, Albertsons, to order the Omni-
    pod 5.

    Recording that phone# here: 734-762-6600

The Omnipod 5 folks say the Albertson folks
will call me today for me to OK & pay for the
Omnipod 5. So, I'm planning on calling them
if I don't hear from them today. I'll report back
on what the price & number of pods is (is it
for 1 month or 3 months?).

Note the price will be a price with me being
in the donut hole, so it will be much higher
than it will be when/if I get out of the donut
    hole this year.

I mentioned all this taking place on the dark
side of the moon. Location change, it's actu-
ally taking place on one of Pluto's 5 moons
(Charon · Hydra · Kerberos · Nix · Styx), which
    one, I don't know. (-:

I've been working on getting that ever
since then, contacting the Omnipod 5
folks, getting an email that they are
waiting on a prior authorization from
my doctor, contacting my doctor who
tells me he didn't receive a request for ...

... a prior authorization. So, today I con-
tacted the Omnipod 5 folks who said
they sent the request. They re-sent the
request today, so I'll be contacting my
doctor this afternoon to see if I can get
confirmation they've faxed the prior au-
thorization to the Omnipod 5 folks.

I'm in a weird gray zone right now, having
discovered that my medical supplies have
already put me into the donut hole, so my
costs will be a lot higher until I go over an
amount of over $7,000, then they'll go back
    down again.

Meanwhile, I only have 8 of my current Om-
nipod Dash pods left (24 days supply), so
I'm trying to get the new Omnipod 5 device
& pods before my current pods run out.

Good news, auto-adjustment of basal dos-
ages based on Dexcom G6 glucose levels
will happen with the new Omnipod 5. I won't
know 'til I try it what the impact of that will
    be. Hopefully, a positive impact.

Bad news, going into the donut hole due to
my insulin & Omnipod prices going so high
(doubling or tripling) since last year, & I'm
not sure if Dexcom G6 prices have also in-
creased dramatically. Oh well, having Insul-
initis (Islit, near-total to total loss of ...

logical approach is a very expensive one (in

NIGHTMARE / DISASTER !!! Ever feel like you're
talking to multiple people who speak a foreign
language & going through multiple interpreters
    & can't get a new state-of-the-art insulin pump
called an Omnipod 5? I do. My doc tried to do
what Albertson said, calling a prescription in, &
was told they are backordered & don't know
    when they can ship it.

So, I called the Omnipod 5 folks & at one point
was told by someone at Humana they had *not*
approved prior authorization. Yikes, a few days
ago I was told they had approved that. So I don't
    know what unidentified supposedly intelligent
creatures are involved, but this is absolutely ludi-
    crous what's going on.

I still have someone at Omnipod 5 headquarters
on the phone right now, having no idea what they
are doing as this isn't happening on one of the 5
moons of Pluto, it's happening on an unknown
moon of an unknown planet in the Andromeda
    galaxy. It's CRAZY.

My Omnipod 5 person says she's got a rep contact-
ing Albertsons & she's contacting the Humana folks
to see if one of them can get the Omnipod 5 (during
this phone call I was told it's called an Omnipod 5 /
G6 kit, still don't know what pods that comes with or
how many pods that comes with but it's an ...

... introductory kit so I'd have to try to reinstitute the
90 day pod supply at the end of however long the
Omnipod 5 / G6 kit lasts). Recently, she hasn't men-
tioned "prior authorization", something I spent weeks
trying to get taken care of & was told that had been
taken care of a few days ago.

Someone at Humana says the Omnipod 5 / G6 kit
requires no prior authorization, so all of that prior
authorization that my doctor & Omnipod 5 folks &
Human supposedly went through, the person today
says none of that was necessary.

Meanwhile, I've learned the Omnipod 5 / G6 kit includes
10 pods (still don't know what they're called) and 1 extra
pod (a 33 day supply), so one I'm up and running when/
if I get it, I'll have to place an order for 30 pods (what
they're called, I don't know). The latest info is that Albert-
sons is waiting for a prescription from my doctor. Why?
    I don't know.

When they receive it they will contact me (supposedly).
So, I'll call my doctor & Albertsons tomorrow to see if
I can get the Omnipod 5 / G6 kit (estimated cost, slightly
over $100 maybe, not sure about that). Stay tuned for
what has turned out to be the most hilarious longest
episode of Seinfeld ever, don't know when (if ever) it
    will end. )-;

Not sure if I'm in tears or dying of laughter, this has been
either the most horrendous or the funniest misadventure
I've ever been involved with. Let's just say it's been both.

    INSULINITIS (ISLIT)

New SUPERIOR clarifying name for near-
total to total loss of endogenous insulin https://prohuman.net/pix2/new_superior_clarifying_name_is_INSULINITIS.jpg

The overwhelming majority of Islit caused
by autoimmune attacks on pancreatic beta
cells (Insulitis Islit) but there are

o 15 specific types of rapid onset Islit, a
rare condition (only present in < one-half
of 1% of Americans & in a much lower rate
in most of the world), when present is typ-
ically diagnosed at age under 30
    (50% at age < 18, 20% at age 19 to 29)

o 1 slow onset specific type, Latent Auto-
immune Islit, frequency unknown but per
a recent report, misdiagnosed as Cellosis
(new clarifying name for type 2 diabetes)
almost 40% of the time due to slow onset
& occurrence typically at age over 30

Old outdated anachronistic name for Islit is
type 1 diabetes, confusing in that diabetes
without clarifier is often used to describe this
& the other 6 Disparate High Glucose Con-
    ditions (DHGCs).

That makes figuring out which DHGC is actu-
ally being referred to (& it can be any 1, some,
or all of them when diabetes or diabetic word
    used without clarifier) confusing / difficult: https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticguessinggame.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticconfusion.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticendingthemisunderstanding.jpg

Recent estimate that 20 million have Islit in the
    world, 1 in 394 (2.583/10ths of 1%), less than
5% of the almost 470 million in the world who
have any of the 7 DHGCs, 95% having Cellosis
    (see below for causalities): https://groups.google.com/g/misc.health.diabetes/c/58ZoHZEZ51w/m/EBejqoJQAQAJ

Insulitis-caused Islit, as listed in details of all
15 specific types of rapid-onset Islit & the sole

Stay tuned for
what has turned out to be the most hilarious longest
episode of Seinfeld ever, don't know when (if ever) it
    will end. )-;

Not sure if I'm in tears or dying of laughter, this has been
either the most horrendous or the funniest misadventure
I've ever been involved with. Let's just say it's been both.

    INSULINITIS (ISLIT)

New SUPERIOR clarifying name for near-
total to total loss of endogenous insulin https://prohuman.net/pix2/new_superior_clarifying_name_is_INSULINITIS.jpg

The overwhelming majority of Islit caused
by autoimmune attacks on pancreatic beta
cells (Insulitis Islit) but there are

o 15 specific types of rapid onset Islit, a
rare condition (only present in < one-half
of 1% of Americans & in a much lower rate
in most of the world), when present is typ-
ically diagnosed at age under 30
    (50% at age < 18, 20% at age 19 to 29)

o 1 slow onset specific type, Latent Auto-
immune Islit, frequency unknown but per
a recent report, misdiagnosed as Cellosis
(new clarifying name for type 2 diabetes)
almost 40% of the time due to slow onset
& occurrence typically at age over 30

Old outdated anachronistic name for Islit is
type 1 diabetes, confusing in that diabetes
without clarifier is often used to describe this
& the other 6 Disparate High Glucose Con-
    ditions (DHGCs).

That makes figuring out which DHGC is actu-
ally being referred to (& it can be any 1, some,
or all of them when diabetes or diabetic word
    used without clarifier) confusing / difficult: https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticguessinggame.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticconfusion.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticendingthemisunderstanding.jpg

Recent estimate that 20 million have Islit in the
    world, 1 in 394 (2.583/10ths of 1%), less than
5% of the almost 470 million in the world who
have any of the 7 DHGCs, 95% having Cellosis
    (see below for causalities): https://groups.google.com/g/misc.health.diabetes/c/58ZoHZEZ51w/m/EBejqoJQAQAJ

Insulitis-caused Islit, as listed in details of all

While I'm on hold with the Omnipod 5 folks,
I'll share with you what I discovered this
    morning.

My doctor's office says they found out that
    Humana Pharmacy (now called CenterWell
Pharmacy) can deliver the Omnipod 5 / G6
kit sooner than Medcart Pharmacy. I called
CenterWell Pharmacy & am still in shock
    over what they told me:

Omnipod 5 NOT COVERED by my Humana
    Gold health insurance ~~!!!~~

My out-of-pocket cost for the Omnipod 5 /
G6 Intro Kit would be over $4,000 !!!

So, I'm calling Omnipod 5 folks to see what
they have to say about this (I'm on a 24 min-
    ute hold).

If you are on the laughing about this side, I'd
say this is an Emmy-award winning episode
of Seinfeld which has lasted 3 hours.

If you are on the despair & disappointment &
shocked side, I'd say this has been an utter
& total DISASTER, the worst nightmare imag-
inable (well, of course, I could imagine worse,
but suffice to say this is among them).

CenterWell Pharmacy suggesed I check with
the Omnipod 5 folks to see if they can provide
any financial help, so that's why I'm on hold
with them & also, I'm talking to them to lodge
a major, what should I call it, information shar-
ing / complaint about this experience.

Who in their right mind would upgrade an in-
sulin pump and NOT have it covered by any
health insurance entity even though their
current version of their insulin pump is fully
    covered? No one.

Location, it's not in the farthest away galaxy,
it's in an entirely separate universe, proving
that multiverse theories, at least one of them,
are true, though it's unfortunately likely that
the life in the universe I'm in contact with is
of a nature apart from what we'd consider
    to be intelligent.

Been on hold for 24 minutes, still waiting.

Checking back to the original article that
stated Insulet sets up wide-scale rollout
of Omnipod 5 insulin pump (article dated
    June 5 2022):
    ***/\ https://www.fiercebiotech.com/medtech/ada-insulet-sets-widescale-rollout-omnipod-5-insulin-pump ***/\

No, no mention of any problems with insur-
ance coverage in that article. No mention
of any insurance coverage issues anywhere
in this universe and not by anyone I've spo-
ken to at my doctor's office, at Omnipod 5,
or at CenterWell Pharmacy, not until today.

So, after being on hold for 34 minutes, a
    representative from product support called
me. He said that the entire Omnipod 5 re-
order department is closed July 4th to July
6th, but he will have them call me at 9 AM
    tomorrow.

So, I'll update this message after talking
with them tomorrow. He mentioned that
they may appeal the CenterWell Pharmacy
non-coverage but I have no idea how long
that will take & I'm on the verge of being
forced to stick with the current Omnipod
as I'm down to my last 4 pods.

Well, the saga continues. Think of it as the
4th hour of the Emmy award winning Sein-
feld, the most hilarious episode of Seinfeld
    ever filmed.

Late today, my doctor sent a 'new' prescrip-
tion to Medcart Pharmacy for the Omnipod 5 /
G6 Intro Kit. I could go into the whys & where-
fores of how everything that could possibly
go wrong did go wrong, but suffice to say,
    we're getting ever-so-close to getting the ...

... Omnipod 5 / G6 Intro Kit. How much will
it cost? I'll find out tomorrow, maybe. When
will it be shipped? I'll find out tomorrow, may-
    be.

I'm down to 4 pods left. The array of people
involved in all this, it's a large number. I will
not say anything to jinx this, so waving my
magic wand, soliciting help from magic fair-
ies, knocking on wood, holding my breath,
and hoping tomorrow will yield positive ...

... karma after a mountain of negative karma
    has finally been overcome, maybe.

While I'm on hold with the Omnipod 5 folks,
I'll share with you what I discovered this
    morning.

My doctor's office says they found out that
    Humana Pharmacy (now called CenterWell
Pharmacy) can deliver the Omnipod 5 / G6
kit sooner than Medcart Pharmacy. I called
CenterWell Pharmacy & am still in shock
    over what they told me:

Omnipod 5 NOT COVERED by my Humana
    Gold health insurance ~~!!!~~

My out-of-pocket cost for the Omnipod 5 /
G6 Intro Kit would be over $4,000 !!!

So, I'm calling Omnipod 5 folks to see what
they have to say about this (I'm on a 24 min-
    ute hold).

If you are on the laughing about this side, I'd
say this is an Emmy-award winning episode
of Seinfeld which has lasted 3 hours.

If you are on the despair & disappointment &
shocked side, I'd say this has been an utter
& total DISASTER, the worst nightmare imag-
inable (well, of course, I could imagine worse,
but suffice to say this is among them).

CenterWell Pharmacy suggesed I check with
the Omnipod 5 folks to see if they can provide
any financial help, so that's why I'm on hold
with them & also, I'm talking to them to lodge
a major, what should I call it, information shar-
ing / complaint about this experience.

Who in their right mind would upgrade an in-
sulin pump and NOT have it covered by any
health insurance entity even though their
current version of their insulin pump is fully
    covered? No one.

Location, it's not in the farthest away galaxy,
it's in an entirely separate universe, proving
that multiverse theories, at least one of them,
are true, though it's unfortunately likely that
the life in the universe I'm in contact with is
of a nature apart from what we'd consider
    to be intelligent.

Been on hold for 24 minutes, still waiting.

Checking back to the original article that
stated Insulet sets up wide-scale rollout
of Omnipod 5 insulin pump (article dated
    June 5 2022):
    ***/\ https://www.fiercebiotech.com/medtech/ada-insulet-sets-widescale-rollout-omnipod-5-insulin-pump ***/\

No, no mention of any problems with insur-
ance coverage in that article. No mention
of any insurance coverage issues anywhere
in this universe and not by anyone I've spo-
ken to at my doctor's office, at Omnipod 5,
or at CenterWell Pharmacy, not until today.

So, after being on hold for 34 minutes, a
    representative from product support called
me. He said that the entire Omnipod 5 re-
order department is closed July 4th to July
6th, but he will have them call me at 9 AM
    tomorrow.

So, I'll update this message after talking
with them tomorrow. He mentioned that
they may appeal the CenterWell Pharmacy
non-coverage but I have no idea how long
that will take & I'm on the verge of being
forced to stick with the current Omnipod
as I'm down to my last 4 pods.

Medcart Pharmacy still has not received the
prescription for the Omnipod 5 / G6 Intro Kit.
I've called my doctor & once again was told
they will send that prescription to Medcart
Pharmacy. I asked them to call me back ...

... when that is done. If I don't hear from them
by 4:00 pm today, I'll call them again. I'd offer
an opinion on this confusion caused by my
old Humana Pharmacy provider changing its
    name & directing Omnipod 5 / G6 Intro Kit &
pod supplies to Albertsons (Medcart Pharmacy), ...

... but needless to say, right now, F-O-C-U-S by
me is required, along with P-E-R-S-I-S-T-E-N-C-E
as the plethora of people involved in this pro-
cess have thus far fallen far short of the mark,
a grade of 'F', but hey, I'll bet that once I jump
through all the right hoops with all the 'right' ...

    ... people, well, I won't presume that's going to
happen, so I'll wait 'til that happens to assess
& comment on the whys & wherefores behind
this being so difficult & complicated, maybe.

    https://www.google.com/search?q=too+many+hands+in+the+kitchen&oq=too+many+hands+in+the+kitchen

If someone says there are 'too many cooks
in the kitchen,' that means there are too many
people working together on something, which
may result in the final product being negatively
    affected.

In this particular case, it has resulted in an on-
going delay in a needlessly complex process,
& it's thus far unknown when or if the delay
problems will come to an end.

    FANTASTIC NEWS !!!!!!!!!

Medcart Pharmacy will ship the new
Omnipod 5 / G6 Intro Kit to me today,
    for a fantastic low co-pay of $139.04 !!!

    That will provide 11 Omnipod 5 / G6
pods along with a new Omnipod 5 con-
trol device that auto-doses basal insulin
& may allow me to avoid worry about
too low glucose levels. We'll see how
good it is at avoiding too high glucose
    levels.

EXCITED & OVERJOYED am I, finally
figuring out all the 'right' steps to take
to get the device I've been trying to get
since June 22nd. This may get me out
of the donut hole. Not sure about that.

This process took 18 days, & since I'm
*not* a patient person, you've seen my
frustration expressed in this thread in
almost all of my posts 'til this one.

20/20 hindsight, I *should* have be-
gun this process when I first read
about the product being widely avail-
able on June 5, but I didn't know how
difficult it would be to get it back then.

    I'll place the 3-month supply re-order
for the Omnipod 5 / G6 pods in a few
weeks & will report back if I'm out of
the donut hole or not. If not, the price
for those will be $416.98 .

    I'm expecting/presuming I'll have a
postive experience with the new Omni-
pod 5 / G6 but won't know for sure 'til
I've used it for ? weeks. I'll report back
on what that experience is after using
the new device for ? days or weeks.
