Their 3-year-old daughter died suddenly from
undiagnosed Islit - Insulinitis, near-total to total
    loss of endogenous insulin.

Now, this Maryland family hopes to help others

Ailish Calloway died within 36 hours of an Islit
diagnosis. Her family hopes sharing their story
will help others see signs they didn't. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/undiagnosed-type-1-diabetes-warning-from-maryland-family/65-5d5eacfc-e81d-4e40-9ad0-a07c1c3a70da

... She had radiant blue eyes, soft blonde locks,
and had perfected the smize. Michael and Re-
becca Calloway said their daughter Ailish pre-
ferred to be called, "Ailish The Girl Rainbow
    Unicorn."

Her undiagnosed Islit led to extremely high glu-
cose levels and Islit ketoacidosis. By the time
she was hospitalized, it was too late.

Ailish’s heart, liver, and kidneys were donated.
Her blood type was B positive. Her team of doc-
tors called her a unicorn. “B positive [blood] is
known as a rare transplant or rare donor type ...”

... knowing "Ailish The Girl Rainbow Unicorn"
saved three lives has provided some peace. ...

‘You don’t want to be that statistic’

Rebecca and Michael Calloway never imagined
they would lose their healthy, energetic toddler to
an unexpected illness. Shortly after Thanksgiving,
3-year-old Ailish became severely sick and was
hospitalized with swelling in her brain. She died
    just a few days later.

“It turned out that she had undiagnosed [Islit, Insul-
initis, near-total to total loss of endogenous insulin]
type 1 diabetes,” Rebecca Calloway said. ... While
childhood deaths from meningitis, [Islit] type 1 dia-
betes and Covid-19 are rare, they do happen.

And when it happens to your family, Calloway said,
the grief is overwhelming. “You don’t want to be that
statistic,” she said. “I would never, ever want some-
one to go through the pain of losing a child. It’s deva-
stating beyond anything that you can imagine.”

Even before Ailish’s death, the Calloways planned to
support vaccine trials because their relatives suffered
consequences from not being vaccinated in the past.

“My family and my husband’s family have a history with
fallout from not having vaccines,” Calloway said.

Michael’s grand-aunt died from diphtheria. His father
nearly died from whooping cough. Rebecca’s grand-
mother had polio and contracted rubella while she was
pregnant with Rebecca’s uncle, who was born com-
pletely deaf and with brain and heart problems.

“We’ve seen the effects of what can happen without
vaccines. Those are very real to us in our family,”
    Rebecca Calloway said.

Even at age 3, Ailish also had a passion for helping
others. She started telling everyone she wanted to be
    a doctor.

Calloway said Ailish would have been so proud of her
sister Georgia for testing the Covid-19 vaccine. “Geor-
gia was her hero,” their mother said.

... without widespread child vaccination, “It’s really go-
ing to be impossible to get to herd immunity” — or the
point at which enough people are protected against a
virus to suppress its spread. https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/30/health/herd-immunity-covid-shifts/index.html ...

No one younger than 12 can get a Covid-19 vaccine in
    the US right now. ...

... The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is authorized for those
age 12 and older, and the Moderna and Johnson & John-
son vaccines are authorized for adults 18 and older.

... Pfizer’s trial for young children started in March, and
it expects to ask the US Food and Drug Administration
for emergency use authorization for ages 2 to 11 years
    in September, the company said.

    INSULINITIS (ISLIT)

New SUPERIOR clarifying name for near-
total to total loss of endogenous insulin https://prohuman.net/pix2/new_superior_clarifying_name_is_INSULINITIS.jpg

The overwhelming majority of Islit caused by
autoimmune attacks on pancreatic beta cells
    (Insulitis Islit) but there are

o 15 specific types of rapid onset Islit, a
rare condition (only present in < one-half
of 1% of Americans & in a much lower rate
in most of the world), when present is typ-
ically diagnosed at age under 30
    (50% at age < 18, 20% at age 19 to 29)

o 1 slow onset specific type, Latent Autoim-
mune Islit, frequency unknown but per a
    recent report, misdiagnosed as Cellosis
(new clarifying name for type 2 diabetes)
almost 40% of the time due to its slow
onset and its occurrence typically at age
    over 30

Old outdated anachronistic name for Islit is
type 1 diabetes, confusing in that diabetes
without clarifier is often used to describe
this condition which is 1 of the 7 Disparate
    High Glucose Conditions (DHGCs).

That makes figuring out which DHGC is actu-
ally being referred to (and it can be any one,
or some, or all of them when the diabetes
or diabetic word is used without clarifier)
    confusing / difficult: https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticguessinggame.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticconfusion.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticendingthemisunderstanding.jpg

    - - -

It's estimated that 5% to 11% of Islit individuals
will die from severe hypoglycemia, the highest
risk of that being while sleeping (i.e., dead-in-
    bed syndrome).
