Islit - Insulinitis, near-total to total loss of
endogenous insulin, requires exogenous
insulin dosages, both basal - background
& bolus - dealing with glucose rises typic-
ally caused by eating or drinking (though
other factors are involved, adding to its ...
... unpredictable probabilistic nature), espe-
cially eating or drinking carbohydrates.

Rice University team creating insulin-producing

Rice University bioengineers are using 3D printing
& smart biomaterials to create an insulin-producing
implant for Islit individuals.
The 3-year project is a partnership between the lab-
oratories of Omid Veiseh and Jordan Miller that’s
supported by a grant from JDRF, the leading global
funder of Islit research. Veiseh and Miller will use
insulin-producing beta cells made from human stem
cells to create an implant that senses and regulates ...
... (i.e., insulin lowers glucose but other hormonal
& cellular activities are required to counter hypogly-
cemia) blood glucose levels by responding with the
correct amount of insulin at a given time.
Veiseh, an assistant professor of bioengineering,
has spent more than a decade developing bioma-
terials that protect implanted cell therapies from the
immune system.
Miller, an associate professor of bioengineering, has
spent more than 15 years researching techniques to
3D print tissues with vasculature, or networks of blood
vessels.
“If we really want to recapitulate what the pancreas
normally does, we need vasculature,” Veiseh said.
“And that’s the purpose of this grant with JDRF. The
pancreas naturally has all these blood vessels, & cells
are organized in particular ways in the pancreas. Jor-
dan & I want to print in the same orientation that exists
in nature.”
Veiseh’s & Miller’s goal is to show their implants can
properly regulate blood glucose levels of Islit mice for
at least 6 months. To do that, they’ll need to give their
engineered beta cells the ability to respond to rapid
changes in blood glucose levels.
[see article for further details, obviously mice are the
1st test, & if that test is successful & proven to be safe,
human tests may follow but as this is early reserach, it
may be many years before this goes thru human clini-
cal trials]

... Zucara Therapeutics is developing ZT-01, a first-in-

hypoglycemia in Islit individuals.
ZT-01 is designed to inhibit somatostatin, a pancreatic
hormone that impairs the glucagon response to hypo-
glycemia in people with Islit.

Research on a possible vaccine to prevent
Insulitis-caused Islit, the specific type of Islit
that the overwhelming majority of those with
Islit have, caused by an autoimmune attack
on pancreatic beta cells (Insulitis), near-totally
or totally destroying them.
To be perfectly honest, I had no earthly idea
of what the researcher was talking about in
this article, but hopefully, at some point in the
future what he's talking about will be able to
develop a way to prevent Insulitis-caused Islit.
Unfortunately, his research is totally preventa-
tive, not curative, & won't help anyone of the
estimated 20 million worldwide who already
have any of the 15 specific types of Islit.

Genetic Research, not to be too skeptical, but
OK, I won't be skeptical, I'll simply report on
what the following article has discovered about
Insulitis-caused Islit genetics:
- - -
July 27 2021
African & Asian genetics researched along
with European genetics research into genetic
causes of Insulitis Islit
https://wydaily.com/regional/2021/07/27/uva-scientists-mount-diverse-study-to-help-treat-diabetes/
https://wydaily.com/regional/2021/07/27/uva-scientists-mount-diverse-study-to-help-treat-diabetes/
- - -
... the scientists identified 78 regions on
human chromosomes where genes are
located that influence our risk for Insulitis-
caused Islit. Of those, 36 regions were
previously unknown. ...
Sidenote: The article hopes this knowledge
will help in the search for a cure, but when
it comes to a cure, I suspect figuring out
ways to recreate endogenous insulin pro-
duction are much more likely to enable a
cure than is genetic research, just saying.

In a cool article about the actors & actresses
starring in Wizards of Waverly Place, I discov-
ered that actress Jennifer Stone got Latent
Autoimmune Islit (often thought of as a condi-
tion that occurs at ages 30 and above) at the
young age of 20, in 2013.

Jennifer ... appeared in every single episode
of Wizards of Waverly Place as Alex's (played
by Selena Gomez, who was diagnosed with
Lupus, an autoimmune disorder like Insulitis-

INSULINITIS (ISLIT)
New SUPERIOR clarifying name for near-
total to total loss of endogenous insulin
https://prohuman.net/pix2/new_superior_clarifying_name_is_INSULINITIS.jpg
The overwhelming majority of Islit caused
by autoimmune attacks on pancreatic beta
cells (Insulitis Islit) but there are
o 15 specific types of rapid onset Islit, a
rare condition (only present in < one-half
of 1% of Americans & in a much lower rate
in most of the world), when present is typ-
ically diagnosed at age under 30
(50% at age < 18, 20% at age 19 to 29)
o 1 slow onset specific type, Latent Auto-
immune Islit, frequency unknown but per
a recent report, misdiagnosed as Cellosis
(new clarifying name for type 2 diabetes)
almost 40% of the time due to slow onset
& occurrence typically at age over 30
Old outdated anachronistic name for Islit is
type 1 diabetes, confusing in that diabetes
without clarifier is often used to describe this
& the other 6 Disparate High Glucose Con-
ditions (DHGCs).
That makes figuring out which DHGC is actu-
ally being referred to (& it can be any 1, some,
or all of them when diabetes or diabetic word
used without clarifier) confusing / difficult:
https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticguessinggame.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticconfusion.jpg https://prohuman.net/pix2/diabetesdiabeticendingthemisunderstanding.jpg
Recent estimate that 20 million have Islit in the
world, 1 in 394 (2.583/10ths of 1%), less than
5% of the almost 470 million in the world who
have any of the 7 DHGCs, 95% having Cellosis
(see below for causalities):

Notably, one's relatives and one's birthplace
dramatically impact one's risk of getting the
Insulitis-caused Islit, as listed in details of all
15 specific types of rapid-onset Islit & the sole
specific type of slow onset Latent Autoimmune

o Preventable Cellosis is the only specific
type of Disparate High Glucose Condition
that is preventable & reversible (in many,
sometimes it's called type 2 diabetes, often
confusingly called diabetes with no clarifier)
Risk for Preventable Cellosis, Hypertension,
& Cardiovascular Disease increases as one's
weight increases but BMI risk increases at
lower BMI levels in non-white individuals:

o PreCellosis (often confusingly called predia-
betes with no clarifier) is the oft-times preven-
table & reversible Cellosis precondition that all-
too-often the overwhelming majority having it
are unaware they have it (almost 3 times more
have PreCellosis than have Cellosis).
o 20 specific types of Cellosis, unpreventable
& nonreversible (thus far, sometimes called
type 2 diabetes, all-too-often confusingly called
diabetes with no clarifier)
Per the following article, 5.3% with Cellosis
used exogenous insulin in 2019.
