    With the chassis for "ground"?

Yep, and they had to make sure that any cabinet retaining screws which
had their heads on the "outside" were well seated in counter bores so
they couldn't be touched by accident. Because, there weren't any
polarized wall outlets and plugs, so depending on which way the plug was inserted into the outlet, the chassis could be directly connected to the
hot side of the 120 volt power.

One of my lava lamps is like that (the "Mediterranean"). Scares the crap
outta me, so I don't leave it plugged in. IIRC the line cord only
switches one conductor, so it could be hot even when "off".

Well, I sorta wuz one almost 55 years ago....
    http://wkrp.org/jeff/atomic/

"Sorta wuz" are the operative words.

And "almost 55 years ago" is the qualifying phrase.

    Are you guys old shaming?

Putting things in context, not shaming. There is no shame in
becoming old. That's my position and I'm sticking to it.

Sounded more like shaming of callow youth.

Too bad they don't have trivia contests with questions like this:

    What is a 35Z5?

I still remember, who here does without resorting to a web search. (Be
    honest AFCANS.)

Context? Military, arts, sciences, politics, sports, what?

Don't overlook "square root day" coming up on 04/04/16. The next one
    won't occur until 05/05/25.

I've been going for pie on 3.14 for a couple of years now, but I'm
flummoxed on what (desirable) food could be associated with sqrt day.

Somehow, carrots, turnips and the like don't appeal.

charles, might work pi are squared into my calcs

    Also use r dr r .
