There used to be an fkey for the Mac that would redraw the entire screen,
and dump the text into a file. Nice programs also let you select & copy
their message text. Don't bother trying to use the mouse, use ^C. If
you want the entire screen layout approximated as text, good luck with
that. That's hard for humans to do well, and we're a lot smarter than machines.

The mnky gibbering and screeching used to keep me up at night, although
